My research has branched out to include the maternal lines as well as the in-laws! I couldn't stop. When I would reach a brick wall with my direct lines, off I would go on the ladies, then when I returned to my lines the brick wall would fall. So, I guess the genealogy God is telling me give so you can get. I really do get a lot of other people finding their family in my data and the gratitude expressed to me by them is awesome. They cannot believe someone would bother to include the family of the wife and even the siblings and their kids! |
My main lines are Pirtle, which has been spelled so many ways you just have to go see my home page. ;-)
I spend vacations riding out to Texas and with my GPS and MapQuest I locate old country cemeteries and locate my kin. Last year I found my Great Grandmother Anna Virginia Simmons Perkins and her son who died in the 1917 flu epidemic and her mother, my Great Grandmother Rebecca Jones Simmons in Old South Church Cemetery, Nevada, Collin Co., TX. I have photos and will post them as I have time.
I also have all the Pirtle graves in High Cemetery, Van, Van Zandt Co., TX which I will be posting soon. Thank you for all the work that has been done. I found birth and death dates I didn't have!
It helps to be ADHD for real.

|MaryP||Claiborne Pirtle's brother|
Am curious if you have any information about Claiborne Pirtle's twin brother, Caleb. He also died in 1853 in Graves Co, Kentucky. He married Jane Fowler Marshall and had 5 children. The 3 who grew to adulthood moved to Texas and New Mexico.

|Skinsman||Michael Kibler headstone|
The headstone photo you have with the information of Michael Kibler born 1823 died 1895 does not match. Record added: Aug 12, 2006 Find A Grave Memorial# 15310318 It must be another Michael Kibler that the headstone picture is for.

|Will Hunsaker||Van Zandt Pirtles|
Tried your email, but it was returned as undeliverable. So here I am...
I believe our paths have crossed over the years in Pirtle research, but I too come from VZ County Pirtles. Mine would be Martha Ella (Pirtle) Highsmith Eskue Hunsaker d/o James Riley, s/o James Samuel who I believe was the first to come from Hardeman County.
Simple question... who are your VZ Pirtles? LOL
I am a Pirkle descendant and I am also a Find A Grv. photo volunteer. I'm planning a trip to Ky and Tn and am wondering where I can find cemeteries where some of these family members are buried. I ve been to the Land Between the Lakes area and Toone(Tn)Cemetery but need some new territory to explore.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks too for the work you've done on this family.

Don't know where you "ride out to Texas" from, but if you ever need any help in Johnson County let me know. My daughter and I are trying to cover the county when we have the time.
