Betty Carol Mcgarity-Kiernan. Married for 30 years to Tom Kiernan(passed in 1999) and now re-married to David Viani. We live in San Francisco and Lucca Italy. Spending time with my son who works for NASA/Engineer until his contract expires in 2011. Traveled last several years through-out Europe and becoming quite the photographer. I hope the new year proves a happy, peaceful one for all.

Okay. Please look again at the memorial for this man. My understabding is that that plaque was supposed to relate to men in the Rev. War. However, the purpose may have been different than that.
Did someone in DAR confuse a father with his son and add a wrong death date on the plaque?
I think we need to check into the history of the plaque in order to clearify the issue.

William McGarity is on the Rev. War plaque at this cemetery. I think DAR put up the plaque. I do not know where he is buried. Some people on this plaque are also buried in this cemetery and some are buried at nearby cemeteries. Z. Tom
Looks like you could use some help. I am the librarian for our local DAR. Let me check some things for you.
Are you a member of DAR?
Do you know the actual burial place of William?

Carol- I was rummaging around Find-a-Grave and s strolling down memory lane at Hardin Cemetery. My families (mother's and daddy's)lived close to the McGaritys but I can't figure out whose daughter you are. My father is Martin Reed and my mither was Jean Riley Reed. Stone is to right of Captain Thomas Linton and
in 3 pieces. We put it together flat on the ground can not make it all out. But here is 90% of it. However all dates below are clear and not a guess. Typo on your year of death on post as 1962.
Also, Stone reads DOD as April 25th, not August 25th however, not unusual as you know.
