|Bio and Links|
I am originally from Bristol, TN. I left there in 1978 and moved to Cobb Co., GA, living in Marietta and Kennesaw until 2002, when I moved to Cherokee Co. I relocated to Tampa Bay in March 2013. |
I have met some wonderful individuals through Find A Grave, and I think the site contains a wealth of genealogical information, and is similarly the most awesome site for honoring those that have passed on. While I greatly appreciate, and applaud, those that will take on the daunting task of transcribing and photographing entire cemeteries I find it rude and discourteous when contributors, rather "robo transcribers" refuse to release memorials, to blood kin, from among their thousands of "unknown" memorials that Find A Grave has chosen to "protect" because they supposedly "maintain" the memorial. I totally disagree with Find A Grave's administration policy of "whoever got there first", regarding these situations. Also, if you submit a photo and see that the request was ALREADY claimed by someone else why not extend the courtesy of an email to that person to let them know so they don't waste their time and effort on a request that has already been fulfilled?
