|I am doing genealogy and the photo's I have placed on here are all photo's I took of my relatives graves or have photo or doc on file. If anyone would like to use any of them feel free, it would be nice if you would please site them but I'm not going to flip out if you don't. |
I have 2 family books on one of my lines and one of my great great grandfathers was said to have left his family(wife & children in TX and return to AR where the rumor was he married a younger woman but no one in family knew exactly what happened to him). A couple of years ago I found someone had posted his tombstone photo on here. Wahoo, how excited was I??? mystery confirmed as his 2nd wife shares the stone!
Guess what the submitter was not trying to help others at all they placed a note that NO ONE would be allowed permission to copy the photo and place it in any other file. If they are pros then why take the time they can't sell them on this website. Although the law and findagrave states that your photos are your rights, others need permission, I feel like WHAT is the point of posting information on the Internet if you are not willing to share it?
Take my information PLEASE!

To correct my last message, I see their last place of residence was listed as Kairo/Cairo, so Ismit/Izmit would not have been where they were living at the time.

Hi Angela - I'm so sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I just discovered today I haven't been receiving Find A Grave email notifications saying I have messages or that photo requests have been filled, etc., since the recent DDOS attack on the Find A Grave/Ancestry websites.
Thank you very much for explaining the relationship between Sirapy Takakjian's, mother Rose Sievart Atanasian and Dickran "Dick" Atanasian. Please give my regards to your aunt. I appreciate you checking with her on Rose's maiden name.
I had their birth/death dates from the California death index, but had not seen the immigration passenger information, so thank you for including it. The birthplace of Ismit/Izmit for Rose is puzzling, as Rose's obit. is very specific to say she was born in Gurun, which is 11 hours inland from Izmit. It is possible it was Dick's birthplace, so they assumed they were both born there or it was their last residence. I see on the original there's a child that was traveling with them, Khachadour Atanasian?. Looks like he's 10 years old (There's a dark line there, so can't read clearly, but comparing to other numbers seems most like 10, instead of 18 or 19.) Also, it lists a brother of Dick's, already in Fresno, they were going to join, named "Grand".

Hi,I added the info you sent, and stated where I got it. I'm going try to go to the library Monday and see if we have his obit. When you look at the SSDI it states that he died in Odessa, but when you click on his name there,on another page it states that Odessa was his last place of residence. So if I can find the obit,I'll know for sure where he died.
Thank's for what you sent,

The Confederate grounds are a large area, with blocks A, B, C, D, E, H, I, J, and "L-M". (Around 7,000 burials.) They have a separate record book for these burials (which is difficult to use.) Burials were usually recorded in this section with block, row, and space. (Jones had none of these. Without knowing what block to look in, the row and space don't help too much.) The cemetery map only has blocks marked, so it requires a guess to figure out rows and spaces. They didn't start keeping regular records until well after the Civil War, so there are many missing or inaccurate. Some of the burials were reinterred years later from the trenches where they fell. These are mostly unmarked, as there was no way to identify them. In sections I and J there are a total of 3 headstones, none with surnames. Section A might be the most likely place for Mr. Jones, as it is the largest. I walked Section E (looking for someone else) but it has only 9 rows. My guess is that the burials were done chronologically (as the bodies arrived at the cemetery), but since there are no dates on the stones, that doesn't really help. I can't imagine them being segregated by what hospital they died at. If I get a chance to walk the larger sections, I'll keep an eye out for him.

Just want to say thanks for all the memorials you have posted of our Rackley family members. Your work is much appreciated. I need to take a class from you on researching our ancestries. Linda
