RE: Zemeri Smith
I only documented the cemetery by walking through and taking and recording pictures of the graves. If you have any questions then you need to call the caretaker of the cemetery. His name is Mr. Carlson and his number is 269-663-2230. He can tell you if these people are buried here. If you can get that information I will be happy and honored to take pictures for you. Be forewarned that they only have a burial record and sometimes not much more information than that. If you are looking for an obit you might try the website

RE: Zemeri Smith
I would be glad to help you if I can but it would be helpful if you give me a memorial number of the person you are talking about and a cemetery. If one of these memorials is from a local cemetery that I have documented I am afraid that I won't be able to help you very much. You see, I am not related to these people, just someone that feels sorry for all the souls in these cemeteries that the world doesn't even know were living souls at one time.

It was in the Enquirer & News (now the Battle Creek Enquirer).
Glad you received it.

The article is old and not scanning well. Is there somewhere I can mail or fax to?

I have never heard of The Square Dealer. I do not believe it exists anymore.

One more thing....

I found an article that was written about 30 years after his death that mentioned him. It pretty much states what you know, though. He was blinded in a farming accident, his wife and children left him after he was blind, and that he sold newspapers, pencils, etc. on the bank corners after that.
It said that the local businessmen and the community as a whole pitched in to get him his small house where he lived until he died.
They also bought his grave space.

RE: Theodore Watkins (Wadkins)
Hi Diane,

I do not have the picture that you mentioned. The only information that I have is that he was 66 years old when he died, his burial date was 1/12/1914, he's interred on Section E, Lot 33, Rt 5 and the he died from apoplexy.

He does not have a headstone.
