Perhaps this (see picture) was the beginning of my interest in family history - though I would not realize it for many, many years. In photo: my dad, my brother and myself - after resetting the stones for our great-great-great grandparents (in a nearby small country cemetery).

* * *

Dear Ancestor

Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

Sarah Norwood
You are correct about Sarah Norwood, #85091540
being daughter of Martha & Freeman. I added pix of their burial that includes sister Harriet as well but also James Hickman that I don't know his connection. I added his memorial today.
I am not related, I was taking pix of County Farm Cemetery(Warren) that is located in back part of Lenox Union Cemetery and took a few other random ones.

Thanks DHutson

Idea Gordon
Find A Grave Memorial# 123707750
you said you were seeking her parents. They are James Campbell Gordon (1861-1930) and Jennie P. Windsor (1865-1906). Baby Idea was the great-granddaughter of my 4-great-granddaughter.

Mary, I wonder if you are named for Mary McGee. In starting my search I can tell you Ann was my GG grandmother. She was married to John but I can't find any information on him. That would make Mary McGee my GGGG grandmother. I'm hoping you can help me, I hope to add more generations as well.

R. E. - son of James C. Hogue?
Do you know anything about R. E. Hogue (1870 - 1904) at the bottom of this stone? If you want to put R. E. in, I'll add the picture! I HAD to leave the cannon in this picture! You can delete these notes to you.

Here We Go Again
Find A Grave will figure out - someday - that their "click next to the word" silliness doesn't work. I'm attempting to send you the full death date for Blanche A. Davidson at Center Grove - Nov. 14, 1956. I'm going over my old pictures - I've found a couple Civil War veterans that no one had put in. Sorry I had to send msg. this way, but Find A Grave's magic little "click beside the word" simply does not work on my computer - you're supposed to click on a box, but that box doesn't show up on my computer - yup - still slogging onward - you can always delete my nonsense from your list, if it arrives, at all.

Mary, I was surprised by your transfer of these families buried in Center Grove Cemetery, Warren Co., Illinois, to me. I will however, take good care of their memorials, as you have, and will add to then to the best of my ability in the future. I really enjoy doing research for F.A.G.

Thank you,

Bowes Family - Rock Island County Illinois
Mary, Robert Bowes Sr. (#57037742) is my 3rd great grandfather. My branch of his tree migrated down into Oklahoma. I was wondering if you have any more information on the family in Rock Island that you could share (or) current living family members in the area I might could contact. Thanks!
