Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am Shirley Marks Whitmore an avid genealogical and historical researcher with deep roots in Louisiana. My maternal ancestors came into what is now Morehouse Parish in NE Louisiana in the late 1700's, so I have generations of ancestors and collateral kin resting in that area. My paternal lines lived in the Avoyelles area, and their arrival there likely dates back to the early 1800's. I am also interested in the people of Grimes County, Texas, Parsons, Kansas, Red Bird, Oklahoma, and my husband's and children's other ancestors who came to SW Arkansas as enslaved servants during the mid 1800's, from Laurens County, South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia.

RE: Nelly Town
I have checked the dozen names in the message you sent to me and I don't manage memorials for any of these people, nor do I know anything about any of them.
Was there some reason you sent your inquiry to me?

Alford family
Hi,
I've been trying to add some of the Alford/ Olive family history onto Ancestry.com. Do you by chance have an account with them? I would love to trade some information with you. Thanks so much,

Joy

Questions about Alford/Olive families in Morehouse Parish
Hello Shirley
I've been studying the cold murder case of Filmore Watt Daniel and it has led me to Watt's connection to the Alford/Olive families of Mer Rouge. Since then, with Miss Fay Bowe's help, I've been working on Find a Grave site for all of this family. I'm especially interested in the photo you submitted to Afrigeneas.com for Jasper & Annette Alford and the attached bio.
If you have anything (pictures & bios) you'd be willing to share, I'd be most grateful. I'm also interested in the 1931 death of Edrie Otelia Olive who is buried at the Cooper Lake Cemetery. Would you know someone who would have pictures of her? According to local gossip she was a legendary beauty.
