Bio and Links
Bio Photo I love the Find a Grave site and have found it to be very helpful in my genealogy research and also as a place to honor those who have passed on. Most of my memorials are for my relatives, friends, co-workers or relatives of friends. I consider all of them a work in progress. If anyone wants to make additions, corrections or wants their family member transferred to them, please leave a message. Thanks!

Researching the May family
I'm researching this family for two reasons. I recently purchased a house built in Georgetown, Texas in 1922 by James Monroe May, who was the son of Martha Sanford by her first husband. In addition, I have two May lines in my family, both from Mississippi. My paternal great-grandmother was Henrietta May. They married in New Orleans, but she was previously in the Biloxi area. Her father was known as the Honorable William Russell May, but we have not been able to determine when (or if) he was a judge. William Russell May was married to Temperance May (two May lines marrying to make things confusing). Most of these folks migrated through the Mississippi area at one time. I picked up on information (can't remember where) that Martha Sanford's first husband, James May, was from Marion County, Mississippi. Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Handy P. May
I posted a picture of Handy's tombstone. Janice, findagrave.com volunteer, and some friends found the stone buried. Note the dates and "Handy", not "Hardy".....Doug McBroom (MAY Family)

Joseph MAY 1732-1829
Carla, I added a picture of the "new" Joseph MAY tombstone. Janice Brock (one of our MAY cousins in Tylertown MS) ordered the tombstone. It will be placed in the cemetery this spring/summer by the local DAR chapter. They are also carefully digging through the leaves and brush to hopefully find some of the tombstones there when a census was taken in 1976. Doug McBroom (MAY Family)

Minnie Vickers May, Gulfport MS
Carla, I added Mrs MAY's obituary to her memorial and several other MAY family obituaries this past weekend. I have a few more from my recent visit to Biloxi MS Library to still post. I'll try to finish them this week. Enjoy.

Ralph Wesley MAY
Carla, a findagrave.com volunteer was kind enough to add a picture of Ralph's tombstone to his memorial. Would you mind resorting the pictures to the picture of Ralph in his US Army uniform is first. Many thanks...>Doug McBroom (a MAY genealogist)

Thank you for posting Steve's picture. This is a copy of a photo of a First Prize Winner of a painting by his beloved Aunt Heka. The original painting hung in his Uncle's Ray's office in Midland, Texas. Steve would be so proud and grateful to you.
