Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hi and welcome!
I have been researching my family history for over 20 years starting with a half-brother I never knew about until the age of 15. It took me almost 22 years to find him and as a result I started my research of the Colby's.

My father was a traveling salesman from Bow, Merrimack, New Hampshire and my mother was a universal winder from Valley Falls, Providence, Rhode Island.

I come from a large family consisting of: 1 half-brother, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. 26 nieces & nephews and 19 grand nieces and nephews...so far. So just my own family is a history in itself!

I hope some of my research also helps you with your research. I have an extensive website called ~The Colby Connection~ just click on the link below.

Kenneth Colby
Hi Deborah. My wife is a descendent of Lafayette Johnson Stanley who was Dovie Iola Stanley Colbys' father. She married Kenneth Colby and had a son Jerry L. Colby. They were apparently divorced and Dovie married a Beverly. She is buried under the name Dovie Iola Beverly. Do you have any information on Kenneth, Dovie or Jerry? My email address is on my profile if you would like to send me any information. Thank you in advance. Kerry G.

Nancy Colby Webster #84940865
Thank you, Deborah, for uploading the photo of Nancy's very old tombstone.

I would like to ask for your permission to use that photo (and others you may have taken of gravestones of my ancestors) in my family tree on ancestry.com. Because the photographer has a copyright for each photo, I always ask before using a photo on another web site. I will, of course, put your name as the photographer and the web site of the memorial(s) as the source.

Thank you for considering my request,
Jacki

Elsie M. Flumerfelt
You sent me a note saying she was Frank Colby Flumerfelt's 5th wife. I already knew that; however, I don't have very much information on her. Can you help fill in some missing blanks? Here's what I need:
Maiden name
place of birth
parents and their vitals
Date of marriage to Flumerfelt
Was she previously married and if so, would like to know details about any spouses
Did she have any children by any other husband and if so, details, please

Do you know if Frank had any children by any other wife besides Charles Graham Flumerfelt who was a son born to wife Ella Haase Graham (2nd wife)?

I see by your surname that it is Colby. Does that mean you are related to Sarah A. Colby who married Byran John Flumerfelt? If so, I would like to take her line back a few more generations as all I have are her parents Silas A. Colby and his wife J. Emily. I need to have vitals on these two folks if you have that information.

Look forward to hearing from you.

John Colby
Thank you for the cemetery info on Mr. Colby. I see that there already exists a memorial there for him. So I've requested a deletion of this memorial which I am maintaining. Administrators need to do this since I didn't create the memorial myself.

My family and yours
Hi, Deborah,

You don't know me. My name is Mardi Phillips. I was born Mardis Looker and Hallie Paul Looker was my uncle. I have just (and I mean JUST) started to try to so some research on the Looker family, as I know very, very little about my father's family.

I just started today and looked on Find a Grave for Uncle Paul's grave and for Aunt Ruth's.
I was delighted to find them and was really amazed when I saw your name there. The reason that I was surprised is because there are two more people whom I loved very much as a child and I wanted to so research on them too, as I learned how. Their names were Claude and Lou Colby. I grew up thinking that they were my aunt and uncle and did not find out until MANY years later that they were notactually my aunt and uncle! So, I am amazed to find that there might really be a family connection between the Lookers and the Colbys!

I would love to know what your relationship is and if you know anything about Claude and Lou.

I must tell you that I am not online at home and come to the library in the little Ozark town to which I came to retire, so it may take a few days for me to read your reply, but I would treasure it. My town is not Harrison, Arkansas, to which I know Uncle Paul and Aunt Ruth retired, but I have been there. And, I do not live right in town, but out in the magnificent hills of the Ozarks.

Wow. I can't believe I have found a Colby!!

Thanks for reading. I sure look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,
Mardi Phillips
