Bio Photo I am 65 years old and retired. I have been doing research for about 9-10 years and have found Find A Grave such a help. I am trying to contribute my findings to help others searching their roots. I love going through old cemeteries and taking pictures and will be adding pictures when I can. My research is my Shoptaugh / Shoptaw family and my mothers family the Robinsons.

RE: Shoptaw Family
Lin, Thank You . My Email is marlenefink@gmail.com I am working on finding an E. S. who is buried in the Shoptaw cemetery in Jackson Township, Greene Co. IND. This small cemetery has my 3x great grandfather, John Harshfield, and some of his grand children and I believe his wife who was a widow of the Shoptaw family. Plus at least one lady who is the mother in law to one of John's son's. Any way The family that owns the land, take such care and pride in this little cemetery, keep finding headstones and foot stones every year. They found my 3x Grandfather there and they had his grave marked with a military headstone from the war of 1812. There are at least 12 depressions there that as yet have no markers. I believe one is John's wife Rachel Welch Shoptaw.
Let me thank you for all the work you have done on the Shoptaw and Thank You for offering to help us in our hunt. Always Marlene

Shoptaws
Dear Lin,
I am related to the Shoptaw family also, and I am looking for any info on those who are buried in the Shoptaw Cemetery in Jackson Township, Greene Co., IND. Most of those there are related to my line. I am hoping that you may know of an E. S. that has been found there but no other names can be seen on the marker. My 3 great grand father John Harshfield is there and I believe his wife Rachel Welch Shoptaw is also there. John had a son David who wed Elizabeth Shoptaw , her mother is also buried there, but not her father, nor is she. Most of the stones are buried under several inches of dirt and each year one or two start and surface. Sherrie & Tim Meyers are the owners of the Cemetery and have done so much to get it back into shape. They have gotten new signs for it and had it added to IND. historical places. They are trying to verify each person there so family will have them back. Any info you may have on that cemetery will be helpful. Thank You Marlene Fink

RE: Photo of your grandma
I just read that last part to your comment. What relation was my grandfather to your family?

RE: Photo of your grandma
I don't mind at all, I had tried to submit a correction to her maiden name as well as to link her to my great grandparents grave. Her parents were Clearance and Marie Rhoades two graves down from hers. I wasn't sure if you had gotten the corrections I sent. I appreciated that you had a memorial page set up for her, thank you.

John Shoptaw
Hi, Just thought you might want to know that I was finally able to get John Shoptaw transferred to Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery like you suggested about five years ago. Good catch! Mary Ann

No it is not my family. I was in contact with a family member, niece, I think on Facebook. Looking for her family and linking.
Blessings

Thank you so much for recording this family! I will do my best to connect everyone. I truly appreciate it. Is there some kind of history on your mansion? Thanks again, Terry
