I've been an active genealogist since the 1980's, getting great pleasure from discovering new facts everyday. |
I've lived in the Northern Calif county of Mendocino for 4 years, previously living in San Diego and raising my family in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was born & raised in Kansas.
I love filling requests all around my area in Mendocino Co. I also love to photograph the old 19th C gravestones I find, and also the stones of children.
Please feel free to use any photos I post to F-A-G for your own uses! I will be happy to transfer any memorial that you need. That's what sharing is all about.

Thank you, Diane, for the photos! One question: Which is his gravesite/marker? Or is it the unmarked plot?
|Kari Mellington Howard||RE: Moses Mellington|
I am the great granddaughter of Moses' son, Clifford Arthur Mellington. My grandfather was Clifford's son, Arthur Ervin Mellington. My father is Gary Dean Mellington Sr.

I noticed that said Moses Mellington was your great-great grandfather. He is, in fact, my great-great grandfather also.

I took two shots to show that it isn't possible to get a full close up of his inscription with his marker now (200 years later) being up against vegetation. My mom arrived to pick me up just as I was taking the pictures, asking me as I got in the car, "What were you doing scrambling around in the bushes like that?"

Thank you for the photos. I like the two, one close and one far.

I visited the Hebrew Friendship Cemetery this week, and the caretaker said that she had searched for that name several times in the past without success. Reviewing the extensive biography in Ancestry.com; he is most likely buried in that 13 acre cemetery. But, we looked in vain at the ledger of sequential handwritten burial entries for 1881 and 1882.
Sorry, this is outside my normal interests.
