|Bio and Links|
I started investigating the Harveys of Chadds Ford, PA in 2005 when my father, Philip Jr., mentioned a school in Chester, PA named after my G, G, G, grandfather, Dr. Thomas Ellwood Harvey. From 1889 to 1961 there Harvey school existed until it was torn down to build the water company building. Ironically my father lives within a mile of the William Harvey House in Chadds Ford, PA. This same house was built in 1715 and invaded by the Redcoats and Hessians on 9/11/1777 at the start of the Battle of the Brandywine. |
Especially interested in any info on Dr. Thomas Ellwood Harvey, early supporter of the Female Medical College of Pennsylvania (first college in the world for training female doctors) and a conductor on the Underground Railroad (including the famous rescue of Ann Maria Weems of Stealing Freedom fame). Check out the website I've started on the good doctor.
Write me with any questions or info to share on all things Harvey.
