Bio and Links
Bio Photo After moving around the country for 38 years, I moved home to Wilkes County, North Carolina where I grew up. I have been looking for my ancestors for almost 50 years now. A lot of the first settlers in this area (Wilkes) migrated on to Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri and many other states. I am a 6th generation descendant of Sarah Boone, the sister to Daniel Boone.

I live within 3-5 miles of the following Baptist Church Cemeteries in the county: Big Ivy, Yellow Hill, Blue Ridge, New Hope. Stony Hill is just up the road and the Lenderman-Powell Family Cemetery is on our property.

In addition to Boone, my other surnames are: Spears, Hamby, Dillard, Cardwell, Ashley, Owens, McGee, Church, Shepherd, Cartwright, Greer and Woodie to name a few.

My grandmother told me when I was growing up ... how do you know where you are going, if you don't know where you have been... I have been chasing those ancestors ever since.

I also do Genealogy Research and would be glad to assist you.

All memorials are entered with the greatest respect.

Please let me know any corrections needed or additions I can help with.

Barbara, you are more than welcome. I am pretty sure this is his stone, it is on the cemetery census in this location and it is close by his family. I am so sorry that the face of it is in the ground. Sad.

RE: Sarah Louvenia Owens
Will do. I did all of Owens Cemetery (a lovely place, but a hard place to find) several years ago, as part of my focus on the Grayson family. Onward! Reearcher

Thanks, Barbara -- funny how these can get a little tangled. I'm here in Mountain City, so I'll look the next time in Sunset Memorial. Anyone else I can find for you here in Johnson County? Researcher

Good evening. Are you sure Sara Owens is in Cornett Cemetery? I have a photo I took of her headstone in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Mountain City (same birth and death dates). I want to make sure I didn't goof and take photos in both cemeteries, and somehow got them switched.
Thanks - Researcher

Hi Barbara. Bobby and I were not related by blood. He holds a very special place in my heart. I live in the same town where Bobby died from AIDS. His husband is distraught at his passing and we all rally around him.
