After moving around the country for 38 years, I moved home to Wilkes County, North Carolina where I grew up. I have been looking for my ancestors for almost 50 years now. A lot of the first settlers in this area (Wilkes) migrated on to Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri and many other states. I am a 6th generation descendant of Sarah Boone, the sister to Daniel Boone. |
I live within 3-5 miles of the following Baptist Church Cemeteries in the county: Big Ivy, Yellow Hill, Blue Ridge, New Hope. Stony Hill is just up the road and the Lenderman-Powell Family Cemetery is on our property.
In addition to Boone, my other surnames are: Spears, Hamby, Dillard, Cardwell, Ashley, Owens, McGee, Church, Shepherd, Cartwright, Greer and Woodie to name a few.
My grandmother told me when I was growing up ... how do you know where you are going, if you don't know where you have been... I have been chasing those ancestors ever since.
I also do Genealogy Research and would be glad to assist you.

Thank you for providing information for George and Sarah Whittington. Both memorials are now updated. They are not related to me and I would be happy to transfer them for you to maintain.

I have put the birth place you requested in the edit, but changed the death place you requested from Rockingham County which is Wentworth and Eden, to here in Richmond County. I thought he died close to Rockingham/Hamlet?

My Mother was an Eller. Junie is her Father.
The other lines come in on her Mothers side.

You're welcome. I'm so glad I could help.
|Dorothy Hinkey||Jane Dillard Spears|
The memorial you have made for Jane Dillard Spears needs to be removed. Odom Spears' 2nd wife was not a Dillard, and she is not buried in that cemetery.
The information you used for her memorial belonged to Jane Parsons, who was not a Dillard, and was not Odom's 2nd wife.
You changed the names of Odom Spears' parents, who were Samuel and Ruth Spears of Tennessee, to Nancy Speer and Valentine Cook, and you changed their little boy's name from Adam to Odum.
You arbitrarily changed Nancy Jane Spears' name to Nancy Ann spears.
The information in your posts is not correct, and is not reliable.
Barbara, thanks for the info on Eunice Ashley. I have added it to her memorial. Thanks again and have a great evening. Joan
