Born in Elyria, OH and now live in Topeka, KS. I was an English professor at Washburn University (now retired after 32 years teaching there) & have done genealogical research since the 1970s. I'm of English, Scots-Irish, Scot, German, French, and Finnish ancestry. DNA testing has indicated a 25/25 exact match to two documented descendants of Godfrey Sheldon (1599-1671) of Bakewell, Derbyshire, England, who moved to Scarborough, Maine before 1660. Godfrey is one of the Sheldon Family Association progenitors. I am willing to add information from relatives to any of my memorials or to transfer a memorial to a more closely related direct relative. I am also willing to receive transfer of memorials of individuals to whom I'm related. Often I can add info that the originator may not have. And I'm willing to transfer info to the originator even if he or she would like to keep maintenance of the memorial.|

|Donnell Miller||RE: Julian McGeorge Find A Grave 70014143|
Thank you so much for your answer and if I find anything that could resolve the missing parents of Stephen I'll be sure and send it your way. The Sheldon family has turned out to be quite an interesting and newly discovered part of my family and I'm enjoying "getting to know them."
So, if there's any way I can help you please let me know, my somewhat distant cousin and again, thank you for all the work you've already done. I had almost no information on my Grandfather McGeorge, who I loved dearly, except the name of his parents, so finding my family line was a wonderful moment in my life.
I wish that they'd use family histories to teach children that they were real people, not just names or recorded events. I was a substitute teacher for quite a few years while living in England and I always endeavored to make the children of all ages realize what the pioneers went through just to live another day. I think it may have changed some perceptions. Take care and I hope you "chat" with you again. Donnell Miller

I noticed your message on Robert J. McGeorge and on Julian, his father. I am related to you through the Sheldon side of your family (my Great Great Grandmother was Susan Sheldon Atwater, through her daughter Florence who married my Great Grandfather, Julian McGeorge). You've done some truly wonderful work researching all your family connections and many others. Thank you for all the fantastic work you've done.
I was wondering if you have any idea of the parents/family of Stephen Addington McGeorge were from, where they were buried and any idea of their family history?
I can't find anything beyond the Stephen McGeorge connection in Capac, Michigan.
I would appreciate any information you have about the McGeorge and the Sheldon family that might help fill in the huge gaps in the history of my family.
|Mark Putnam||Sheldon's and Putman's of Early Morristown, NJ|
Hi, I have been researching the Putman/Putnam families of early New Jersey for some time now. There was a William Putmon/Putman who was listed on the 1788 Hanover Tax Records. Thomas Sheldon who likely married a Ms. Putman was born in 1789 in Morristown, NJ, which is next to Hanover, NJ. The only Putman's who lived at this time in NJ appear to have been Dutch with the name Pootman/Pottman/Putman. It is my understanding that Johannes Pootman of early Schenectady, NY, had a son David Pottman who died in Potterstown, NJ, about 1761. The town was likely named for him. David Pottman had children it appears as follows: Cornelia, Fykie, Johannes or John, and Victor. Johannes of John Pottman/Putman likely removed to Morris Co., NJ, where he married a Ms. Darling and had Elizabeth who married Samuel Swayze; William who married an unknown lady; and John Putman who married a Sina and died in Hardyston, Sussex Co., NJ, about 1798. It was this William Putman who I think appears in the 1788 Hanover Tax Records, and was likely the father-in-law of Thomas Sheldon. This is how the name William Putman/Putnam came into the Sheldon family.

Thank you for completing the link request. If you haven't noticed already, I have taken photos of the tombstones of many of your family members in Eldora City Cemetery.
|Nancy Davidson Moll||Samuel C. Hammontree|
On Samuel's memorial (35081349) there is a link to a child Joseph B. Is this an error? Did he have 2 sons named Joseph?
I have Samuel as father of Joseph Lafayette, 32167473.

|mlvee||Two different Roy Reed Sheldons|
I see you have two Roy Reed Sheldons rolled into one. Check the following link to WV culture center. This is my husbands uncle. The Roy Reed Sheldon you have listed is HIS uncle.
Check both and you will see they have different parents, spouses, birth and death dates. One died in 1951 the other in 1957

|Brenda Daniel||Susan Atwater|
thank you for your page on Susan Atwater. I have been indexing this cemetery for many years. I had already gotten a copy of her obit and corrected her to being Mrs Tom Cox's mother. Very nice page. Do you know if there are any descendants of Tom and Laura Cox? We are updating our cemetery records. Also do you have any information about the Cox family? I have a Margaret Cox whose obit says she is buried in Palisade as well although I found no records of her in the main cemetery. There is a smaller one up on the hill so I am putting all of them in one index and indicating where when possible.
