Bio and Links
Bio Photo Both of my parents are from Caroline County, Virginia, and many of my ancestors are buried in that county and nearby localities. Some of my family names are Vaughan, Allen, Young, Tod(d), Tompkins, Blanton, Redd, Dabney, Smith, Hayes, White, Jeter, Wood; there are many others.

Many of my family members are buried in Carmel Baptist Church, Bethany Baptist Church, County Line Baptist Church, and Greenlawn cemeteries in Caroline County, Virginia.

I am also working on research for my husband's family from North Carolina, Iowa, Oklahoma and Texas, surnames Davidson, Davis, Clark, Hunter, and many others. And I am still working on research for my former husband's family from Georgia (Jefferson County) and South Carolina (Richland, Orangeburg, York and Charleston Counties); surnames Walden, Thomas, Harvley, Robinson, Scurry, and many others.

This is so much more than a hobby! Every new piece of information leads you down a different path.

I found this verse on another contributor's profile; I've recently learned it was written by Walter Butler Palmer in 1906. I hope it is still acceptable to display it here:

Dear Ancestor

Your tombstone stands among the rest;
neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.

It reaches out to all who care
it is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.

Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.

Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.

I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

-- Walter Butler Palmer, 1906

I would love to correspond with anyone who has questions or information about any of the memorials I manage or to which I have contributed. I am also glad to transfer memorials upon request, particularly those in Parker Cemetery in Jefferson County, Georgia (which I added via database, not having personally visited it.)

In the time since I added Parker Cemetery in Jefferson County, Georgia to Find a Grave back in 2009, there have been many wonderful local volunteers who have submitted photographs, with the result that many of my originally submitted memorials were incomplete (headstones which have now been photographed, showing birth/death date information which was not a part of the original database). I believe I have now updated these memorials, and welcome any additional information others may have, such as linking spouses or parents.

If you'd like to request any updates, corrections or linking, please use the edit/corrections tab on the memorial.

I'd also like to add that any photograph I take myself and post on Find a Grave is free for the taking; please just make sure you attach it to the correct person :)

RE: Dudleys
Thanks for your message. I know folks are very busy, and some folks do not even bother to process the edits. They take effect 21 days after they are sent if no one processes them.

I'll take a look at them as I receive the email. I'm not closely related to them, but I am fine if you want to transfer them to me.

I have some 10-12 on a variety of themes and all are open to public. Look on my contributors page. You may want to 'steal' a few ideas!

Re: Irene Flagg
I can't recall why I had to clip the photo on the bottom - I had it my archives and took it awhile back. Get a location an I can check on it to see if it's partially covered by another which seems to be the case...Fred
