George Phillippe Graul
I have been researching George Phillip Graul, b. Aug 1815 in Hesse-Darmstadt, locted in Posey County, Indiana, and a Civil War veteran. I was wondering where you got his death date? The information I have is the following:

1. 1880 census for Blairsville, Posey County, Indiana, shows only his wife alive. She is listed as Scharlotte Graul and is with her three sons, Phillip, Frederick and Jacob. She is listed as the Head of Household.

2. Charlotte applied for her husband's Civil War pension (# 349158) on 19 January 1887. If Philip were still alive he would have applied for it himself.

The Best I can say is that he died after 1870 and before 1880.

I don't live close enough, but someone needs to take a better look at the tombstone. It is also possible that the tombstone may be wrong.
