Bio and Links
Bio Photo Genealogy is my passion and I have doing Adair County research for over 25 years and have been doing my husbands family for about 12 years. His family is from Owsley Co., KY.

I have lots of information on many surnames from Adair County and have worked on a Breeding Community Reunion for going on 5 years. It is the 2nd Saturday in Oct at the Breeding Vol Fire Dept every year. I also do a book full of photos of the people of the Breeding Community and some of surrounding communities of Adair as well.

RE: Cawthorn Cemetery
I don't know how Milton and Rachel are connected with the Cawthorns. They might not be. But they are buried in the old Cawthorn cemetery -- just as you describe...at the foot of a hill perhaps a mile or two off the Subtle Road. Milton's son, George (1875-1967), and his grandson, Johnny (1900-1988)are buried at the Fields Cemetery on Subtle Road. I was last at both cemeteries last summer. I'm pleased that they're being well maintained. Tim

Cawthorn Cemetery
I added a couple of memorials to your old Cawthorn Cemetery site, but I'm not entirely certain that I have placed them correctly.
There's a Cawthorn Cemetery east of Edmonton on Highway 496 (the Subtle Road). One has to go down, down, down a hill to reach it. My great-great grandparents, Milton and Rachel Fields, are buried there. I was last there in May of 2011. Is this the same Cawthorn Cemetery that you took a picture of? I'm in doubt because the location provided is Summer Shade. The Cawthorn Cemetery where my ancestors are buried is several miles from Summer Shade. Thanks so much.

Ralph Simmons
Simmons Cemetery, Adair County
James Bramlett Simmons Was born May 1833 (you have 1883, maybe its hard to read the marker?) in Cumberland county, Kentucky His parents were James Simmons b 1800 North or South Carolina d abt 1873 Cumberland county, Kentucky and Jane ‘Jennie' Harvey b 1802 South Carolina abt 1873 Cumberland

James married Ellen Wilson in 1849 in either Russell or Adiar County.
Ellen Wilson b 1 Apr 1827 in Russell County d. 16 Mar 1913 Adair, KY
Note: You have her as Elish (have not seen this name used for her before)

Alice Ellen Firquin (Simmons) was James' and Ellen's daughter.

M O Gibson is Mary Ollie Simmons also a daughter of James and Ellen, Her husband was G W Gibson, (George W Gibson).

Gene and W. T. are most likely children of Ollie and George, but not sure. Not sure about the others in Simmons Cemetery either.
