I have been doing genealogy research since 2001. I love the challenges and the excitement of knocking down those brick walls. I want to thank all of the findagrave.com volunteers who do such a great job with fulfilling the photo requests. It makes such a difference to have photos to go along with the memorials. |
In Dec 2012 I become a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, which has been a goal of mine for many years. I look forward to becoming involved in my community with their projects which help support our local Veteran's Home.
Findagrave.com has strict rules about not copying other peoples photos as they are copyrighted material. With this in mind, I would appreciate it if you don't copy the photos I have posted without my permission. I have recently discovered some people have done this and then posted the photos to trees on ancestry.com without even bothering to source where the photos came from. This is discourteous at best. If you are going to copy photos without my permission, at least be honorable enough to say where you found them. The same goes for any other info you cut and paste from my memorials such as bios and obituaries. Just say where you found the info so others can be guided to this site.
Some of my ancestor lines are: Turnidge, Decker, Peters, Berberich, Claymon, Eden, Classen, Wirth, Irwin, Pennington, Terrell, Crowley, Fletcher, Connell, Atkinson, Glover, Curd, Vorce, Clarke, Russell, Letman, Whitton, Nutting, Lea, Letman, Boyce, Baker, Douglas, Rhea, Perkins and Griffith.

I found the problem. I had added a memorial for John and Barbara in Rose Hill Cemetery. I will transfer both to you. Feel free to merge them as you see fit. However, they have also been added a third time...see memorial #106969464 and #106969338
I fulfiiled photo request for John and Barbara Bertlesman in Old Rose Hill Cemetery. It still appears on the request page for some reason ???

|Tom and Nancy Gawthrop||RE: Eura Means|
The Illinois Deaths and Stillbirths Index for Eura Clements Means lists his birthday as 15 Sept 1865 in Cameron, Warren County, Illinois. It lists his parents as Addison Means, born in KY, and Sy..a Meadows, born in Illinois. This would be Cyrena. Eura died 15 May 1922 in Monmouth, Warren Co, IL, and is buried in Glendale Cemetery, Monmouth, IL. He lived at 727 East Broadway, and his wife's name was Nellie. Illinois Marriages index has Eura C Means marrying Nellie Myra Clarke 30 Aug 1888 in Warren County. Eura appeared on his parents' censuses years 1870 and 1880.
Addison Means, Eura's father, had a brother James, and James is my great great grandfather. He married Sarah Jane Lucas, and one of his sons was Addison Means. It would appear Addison was a popular name, as Eura named his son Addison also. That would make Eura and Addison (my great grandpa) first cousins, and my Addison is nephew of your Addison. Are we confused yet?
If you want more info on Eura, Cyrena, Addison, James, let me know; I have unearthed alot of info on the Means family. Nancy Gawthrop
|Mary Harrell-Sesniak||RE: Nathaniel Bishop Bible|
The Bible record was submitted as proof of marriage to the Samuel Collins Pension file by wife Betsey Bishop. The pension file is number W.17645 from Connecticut.
Samuel Collins had received $30 per annum (see pages 15-16 of the file) under Act of June 7, 1832...
"She further declared she was married to the said Samuel Collins, on the 22 day of October 1793 by the Rev. David Porter, in the town of Green River, Columbia County, and State of New York, that her said husband aforesaid died on the 4th day of July 1840, and that she is still his widow; that she was not married to him prior to his leaving the service, but the marriage took place previous to the first day of January, Seventeen hundred and ninety four, viz: at the time above stated, that she had not since intermarried, but continued the widow of the said Samuel Collins, and that she had no record proof of her marriage in the family Bible, or otherwise, and that she has never heretofore, applied for the benefit of the act of July 7, 1838, for the "five years Pension," and never received any thing, and is unable to attend court. Sworn to... Betsey Collins [her signature}
Pages 27-28 contain the family records, and her marriage date is clearly written. Since the handwriting is consistent on the two pages (probably written at one time), she may have created a record to supplement her application. There is no title page.
The file is 56 pages total, and there are several supporting letters and an inquiry by descendant Vera C. Bentley.
