Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a descendent of the W.C.Watkins family that I am submitting and would like to hear from any researchers of this line. I enjoy sharing information with other researchers. I have added my Cobley and Matthews families. My McKinzie/McKenzie and Glasscock/Glassco families have been added so visit their pages and let me know if you are connected to any of these families. They are all connected to each other.
I am now adding what I believe to be my biological maternal Riggs family. They are not connected to any of the other families as far as I know.
I have added part of my husband's Neily/Neely family. I will add the rest later.
I want to thank everyone who has placed flowers and flags on my memorials.
I also want to thank all the volunteers who have sent photos of my requested gravestones. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thomas Matthews, Junction City
Hi Jodi--

Can you tell me if Thomas' daughter Julia had a son by the name of Ellsworth McBride? Ellsworth is living with Thomas and Mary on the 1875 census in Geary Co., Kansas, and ten years earlier was in the household of Samuel McBride, with Thomas and Mary (and I assume their daughter, a woman named Julia McBride) living next door. Also in the McBride household were a mother and child named Van/Vann. There was also a Van living in the Matthews household--the husband and father of the female Vans next door? Perhaps the enumerator got the households a little mixed up--not sure. If sending you a copy of the census would help, I would be glad to do so.

Thanks,
Sheryl

Joel Matthews
Hi Jodi,

I am a direct descendant of Joel Matthews - your entry #20969145

You've mentioned on your record of him that Rebecca was his sister and not his daughter. He did have a sister - as well as a daughter (my 3g grandmother) named Rebecca. I'm hoping we can compare and align our information!

Joel Matthews sister Rebecca was born in 1778. Rebecca Matthews Clark was born in 1799. I have a family history written by John and Rebecca's granddaughter Flora Clark Whisnand. In it, she lists the following sisters, including Rebecca:

Elizabeth m Benjamin Noble
Rebecca m John Clark
Mary m John VanMeter
Margaret m Abraham Griggs
Lavine/Lovina m Zephaniah Spears
Nancy m James Noble
Ann m Jeremiah Brewer

There is a biographical sketch of Zephaniah Spears in Clinton Co, Ohio. It says he married Lovina Mathews on September 20, 1829 and says she was the daughter of Joel and Phebe Mathews. If Lovina is Rebecca's sister, and Joel is Lovina's father, I infer that he is also Rebecca's father.

Link to Spears/Mathews sketch: http://bit.ly/fhGSba

Are you descended from Joel Matthews? It would be great to make a connection. If not - perhaps you would consider transferring his entry to me?

Happy to provide any other documentation you may be interested in. I hope we get to talk soon!

Best regards, Elaine Clark

Dobson Request
Hi Jodi: I had a friend call to get the grave location for Dobson since Findagrave volunteers are unwelcome at this cemetery. However, when I went to the location this morning, I was sadden to find it unmarked. I have posted a photo of the place where he is buried for you. Chris

RE: Louisa Watkins Cravens
Jodi,
No I don't. I can see the words hurt no more.
Probably just a saying or poem. I don't think it is anything important to the genealogy of the family or Louisa herself.

I will be going back again soon and will look again and transcribe it for you...if I can find her again.

RE: Winifred Crabb gravestie photo
Just did it. We almost missed her, too! If it wasn't for spotting James, I think I would have walked right past! So thanks for the added info that they were together!

Roseva Mijanovich
Hi Jodi: I noticed that you didn't have a day of death for Roseva on her memorial. I looked her up on the CA Death Index and found her date of death was Oct 20, 1986. Hope this is helpful to you.

RE: Orlando Bridgeman
Hi Jodi,

I retrieved the information and picture from the Long Beach Police Department's website, under the section "Fallen Officers". Here is link to their memorial for your great-uncle:

I hope this helps! Brian
