I changed the name to Ann but I think that her middle name may be Elizabeth Ann after her Aunt. I also did more research on find a grave and sent out links for more family members and updated her mothers name.

There seem to be a few duplicates in this cemetery.

It appears to me to be his birth date and her date of death.

I am particularly intrigued since I have reached a dead end with my Hancock linage. I would welcome any insights you have to share.
I was born in Colquitt County where I spent most of my youth but, I am unfamiliar with the Hancock reunion in Colquitt County.
To date I have focused my search on Thomas County being unaware of specific familial ties in Colquitt.
Eagerly waiting to hear more

Romana, I sent the full dates and when and where he died and then sent you the source of the data. You should have an edit pending on your profile page. Winnette

Yes it must have been dumped here some time ago as it was lying face down and was flush with the ground. We were clearing some brush for the first time since we moved here (6-years) when we found it. We called other people that had lived here and one person said they thought they remembered seeing it about 8 years ago but never flipped it over to see what it was.

Ms Ramona, recently while doing some extensive cleaning on our farm in Hahira we found a headstone. Knowing it didn't belong here I set out to find where it should be. Law Enforcement and our local funeral homes were of no help, as their records didn't have any information on the names. About to give up I decided to try a Google search. I was surprised when a link came up to Find a Grave, specifically to your listing from Alderman Cemetery for William A Alderman, and it showed only a grave marker with the initials WAA. If you go to your listing today you will see that I have added another photo as young Williams grave is once again properly marked and his headstone is back where it belongs. In talking with other people that have been associated with this property, in the past, I have found that the headstone showed up here somewhere between 6-10 years ago. We are very happy to have found Find a Grave and your listing.
Please disregard the edit i added for this memorial. I had the wrong person. She is not Rebecca Ann Waldrop Pittman as I had thought. I have no knowledge of this person's birth and death date or her husband as I had previously put in the "edit" . Sorry!

My Hancock lineage is from Georgia. I have only been able to trace my maternal great grandfather back to Quitman, Brooks County, Georgia at this point. I am not sure where they came from prior to 1880.

With regards to the memorial, my apologies, there are duplicate cemeteries so, I deleted the original record and moved it the correct cemetery. So sorry I did not back track to advise you.
Thanks for your help!
