re: Magdaline Putnam Thomas
Though the Putman/Putnam genealogies seem to point toward a Maddeline Putman who married a Ben Thomas, and who later died in a house fire where she returned to the house to rescue valuables, and became trapped, I have some increasing doubt that the Ben Thomas who married "Maddeline" is a brother of John. I also wonder if the Benjamin and Magdalene that are buried in the cemetery that you and I have been discussing, is this same family (though a story about the family has been perhaps improperly attributed to the Ben and Maddeline Thomas family). In ALL of the accountings of the children of Ben and Maddeline, there is no mention of an Ashfaird, or Ormes or Peter Thomas. There is some reference that I've found to a Benjamin Thomas born in Wales and Married in Wales who later moved to the US.

re: Magdaline Putnam Thomas
Thanks for taking the effort to get the photo of the name on the Monument.
I am still attempting to contact someone who may have at least a copy of a transcription (and hopefully a print of the original) of the WILL of Peter Putman, father of Catherine Putman, wife of John Thomas; and "Maddeline, wife of Ben Thomas of Scioto, Ohio"; to see if someone has misread the script that the original document was written in.

Thank you again for your work!

re: Magdaline Putnam Thomas
By the way, thanks in advance for volunteering to get a better photo of Maddeline/Magdalene's monument. I hope there is some lettering on the monument that is still able to be read.

re: Magdaline Putnam Thomas
I know that John Jacob Putman, son of John Jacob Putman Sr and Magdalena Fleet, wrote about his paternal grandfather in "History of Tarrant & Parker Counties of Texas (published 1895). I'm wondering if some name confusion happened? I'm attempting to discover if Maddeline/Magdaline's father's will tells us the name Maddeline (as it seems to be the source of the information that Maddeline married Ben Thomas of Scioto, Ohio).
]
My family line is descended from John Thomas, who married Catherine Putman (supposedly John and Ben are brothers, and Catherine and Maddeline are sisters, so clearing up any possible problems with these assumptions is vital).

Of course, the Putman vs Putnam surname has always been a stumbling block, but there seems to be enough references to Peter Putman/Putnam and Mary Good/Goode as the parents of both Catherine and Maddeline, that the variation on the spelling of the name is almost expected.

Re: Elizabeth Evans
Hi southerblueeyes,

I have updated Elizabeth's memorial with the information for both of her marriages. I gave you credit for your abstract pointing out that she had been married twice. Her maiden has been corrected.

Thanks and have a great week,
Karen

TomSam: Would you happen to know Rosemary V. Crabtree, a Scioto Co. CGRS? She may have helped you with the Lucas Cemetery inventory in 1987. She helped me incalculably in the mid-1990's in researching this line. If you see her, tell her hello and thanks for helping to piece together my Scioto ancestors! Bruce H. Myers.
