|Bob Jensen||Yost Harbaugh|
Thanks, any help or info I can supply let me know, I was not sure if you had the book on all the Harbaughs, one of my Aunts has one of the original books and I found a copy out East,one of the sisters has the family Bible dating back to Captain Yost Harbaugh and his Father and brothers, also some of the Harbaugh girls years ago joined the DAR because when my daughter applied to join they said they had the same info we had to join that had been submitted by other women in the past. Thanks, Bob.

|Bob Jensen||Yost Harbaugh|
Hi Mike, in my book Harbaugh History by Cora Bell (Harbaugh)Cooprider under #2316 for Yost Harbaugh it shows B-Oct. 11, 1741 in Berks Co. Pa. D-Aug,16 1831 in Wash. Co., Md. That is also what is in my Great Great Grandfathers notes who was Jacob Harbaugh and his Father was Jacob Harbaugh son of Yost Harbaugh, Jacob is buried close to me in Olin Iowa cemetery. He is #1070 in the book with his children listing my Great Grandmother Lillian Emma Harbaugh who also is buried near me, I am trying to just get all the correct info I can and would appreciate any and all info you care to share, Thanks for all your great work.PS the book also shows Yost first burial at Antietam near Hagerstown but later removed to the Emmert lot near Funkston, Md. There is a gravestone in Prospect Hill Cemetery at York, PA.
|Beverly Williams||RE: Mary Swope|
I wish I could take credit for it. Shane Swope is in the process of trying to clean up the approximate 1 acre area where the burials are located. He said it is going to be a time consuming process as it is very overgrown and has not been tended for at least 40 years. He also fears that if there is monument for Jesse Swope that it is buried in the roots and beneath a substantial tree that is located right next to where he found Mary's monument. I also established the Swope Family Farm Cemetery at Find A Grave for these as well and any others that he finds. I'll stay in touch with what he finds. I'm about 3 hours away from Sedalia but since I'm one of the main activity trip drivers for the school district here, I'm on the road 5 and 6 days a week and just don't have the time to make it there. |Joanne Ryan||John Row - Harbaugh's|
Could you tell me what information you have about Henry and Eve Rough and where you found it? He is my 4X great grandfather through Minnie Rowe Reecher. I have been trying to find out where he came from before Franklin Co. I have found several Henry Roughs in the PA Septennial census records in Lancaster and other counties east of Franklin but am unable to learn more about him. Thank you.
|Linda Rhoadarmer||Mt Moriah|
I was at Mt Moriah this morning and the man who cuts the cemetery was there. I found out from him that the old cemetery is off to the left of the present cemetery as one is facing the cemetery. . The old one is in the space between the existing stones and the trees. There are no head stones in the old cemetery but I did find, almost buried, some old stone markers. One had JG on it and another in a different spot had a M and another had a W. Think I will go back with a scew driver and poke down and see what I can come up with. Linda
|edie eader||Shirley Ann Royer Siple High|
It was told to me that due to her mother's age, Shirley Ann Royer was adopted by her half sister Mary Jane Royer Siple and her name was changed to Shirley Siple. Shirley was the daughter of Samuel & Jennie Marker Royer. I have been unable to find the obit for Mary Jane.
Jennie is my main interest since she was a Hawbottom Cemetery descendant.
Did Christian Garver own the original John Stoner homestead house? My great grandmother was Sarah Garver daughter of Samuel Garver , who was the son of david, son of Christian. My great grandmother reported that our family was from Switzerland before the days of the Revolution and some of the family served in the War. This is quoted from a Newspaper article that they interviewed my Great Grandmother Sarah Garver for. She was born in Tyronne Mills, Fayette Co, Pa. Also her Uncle was Captain Wentz (Wertz) in the revolution. Thanks,Vikki My grandfather her son reported as well that several of the boys were officiers and received land grants at the end of the war. Still researching. Thanks
|Gary Brown||Capt. Ignatius Brown|
My name is Gary Kenna Brown, and I am a direct descendant of Capt. Ignatius Brown. He and his wife elizabeth had a child named william b brown who married elizabeth fox, they had a child hezekiah brown who marriied catherine kinna, they had a child (my grandfather) Col. Aubrey Kenna Brown, Sr., US army ENT physician. He married Augusta Nelson, an immigrant from Sweden, and a nurse. She immigrated 1901. Grandfather Brown changed "kinna" to "kenna" because my father said he "liked the way it looked". He went to medical school at loyola/chicago. Their only child, my father, Col. Aubrey Kenna Brown, Jr, was born aug 25, 1920, in Greeneville, SC. My father was also a US army ENT physician, is still alive (will be 92 this month), and resides with my Mother Mildred Phillips Brown, in Temple, TX. My siblings (3 alive), are william phillips Brown, Gail Ingrid Brown Avots, and Beth Ann Brown Lang. They all reside in Texas. Col Aubrey Kenna Brown,sr (11/23/1880-3/25/1955) and my grandmother Augusta(3/22/1883-1/3/1966), along with my deceased brother Aubrey Kenna Brown lll (10/31/1947-12/31/1947) are buried at Fort Sam Houston Military Cemetery, San Antonio, tx. I vaguely remember visiting my great aunts Grace, Beulah, and Marcia in maryland as a child.
I also have in my possession a Pennsylvania long rifle made by gunsmith Henry Koch (just over the border in Pa), circa 1800, passed down in the family and attributed to Ignatius Brown, who was said to use it in the war of 1812. Hope you find these facts interesting!
