Burial unknowns
Russ - I have gone through the surnames beginning with P for your Burial Unknowns. Have sent you information about the ones that I found burial sites for.

Russ, thank you for transferring the memorial for Mrs. Burnett's spouse, RADM Henry Poynter Burnett. Would you mind transferring Mrs. Burnett's memorial to me also? It's # 60135202

Thanks again, JD

Hi Russ, Would you be willing to transfer management of this one to me? I have some original pictures and am working on a biography. Thanks, JD

Unknown military memorial pages
I went through your As, Bs, Cs and some Ds and found some places of burial for you as well as some dates of death.

Some of the burials were cemetery burials and I sent you the information where to move the memorial page. I also checked to make certain there was NOT a preexisting page for them in the cemetery. I also noted where the remains were cremated and the disposition of the ashes if that detail was in the obituary.

Now, you can request some photos!

RE: Wm Collier at ANC
Please remember to update his plot number to Site 40-A-1 on his memorial -- would you prefer I send a SAC?

Wm Collier at ANC
Hi, Russ,
I was out at ANC on Monday and went to Sec 34 to take the Collier photo for you, but couldn't remember the name associated with your request (rare moment of not having written it down.) I took a photo of 34-40-A, but, as it turns out, that is someone by the name of Campbell. Collier is actually at 34-40-A-1, so I'll take the photo for you this weekend. Sorry for the delay.

RE: Ernest Burt
Regarding ANC - I agree it is a very sad state of affairs. With the technology available today they should be able to organize and catalog their records.

RE: Ernest Burt
It would be a great project. Another option is working with a Boy Scout for an Eagle Scout project. Back in the 1950s my husband's grandfather (who was a Lieut. Colonel in the United States Army) worked with some Boy Scouts to inventory a Civil War veterans cemetery in the mid West. It was the Eagle Scout project for some of the young men.

Even then some of the graves may be unmarked just as they are in ANC.

I have found several individuals whose obituaries state they are buried at ANC, but there is no record of them. Most often the wives are interred in ANC, but their names never appear on the stones of their husbands. That would be another great project!

RE: Ernest Burt
You and I have the same luck - I have not found a complete list either. When I have the time I search through newspaper databases and sometimes I find half a dozen names and other times none. As an example a few days ago I was intrigued by the already existing page for Lieut. Colonel Michael Jerome McMahon who died in 2004. His bio mentioned he was born into a military family and was predeceased by his mother and brother. When I searched for an obituary for Colonel McMahon it stated he was laid to rest by his brother in the cemetery at West Point. So, I was able to add a memorial page for Dennis, who was a member of the class of 1976.
