Anna Bertha Faltermann
Hi, Susan. I was wondering if you would be able to link Anna with her father. His memorial is 151269878. I don't know the one for her mother Katherine Klaub. Thank you.

Date of Kuster Marriage and More
Susan, I have some more information that might interest you if you don't have it. The birth record of Arthur Kuster shows date of birth as 9 Jan 1882. Unless a transcription error or premature birth, that would mean Cyprian and Maria had to be married in March or April, 1881. The record also lists mother's name as Baker. I often wondered about that and whether she had a marriage prior to Hermann Kluge. In the birth records of Cyprian and Maria's other children, her name is listed once as Maria Lichtenecker, then simply as Mary Kuster.

As you can guess, my main interest is with Cyprian's wife before Maria, Rose Maurer, who was my great-great grandmother, but not through her marriage to Cyprian. She had a son, Leonard Schilling and we think his father was also Leonard Schilling, but those records cannot be found. That being said, Leonard Schilling the son was raised by Cyprian, lived with him for a brief time in New Jersey, and apparently remained very close to the children of Cyprian and Maria, as did some later descendents. My uncle has been in touch recently with some of the Kuster family. Oddly, they thought that Rose Maurer was also their ancestor, which she was not.

And that is more than you probably ever wanted to know about my connection to the Kusters.

Cyprian Kuster
Thanks for the information, Susan. I noticed that the name is spelled "Cyprain" on the stone, but that was probably an error.

Cyprian Kuster
Cyprian Kuster was the husband of Maria Lichtenacker Kluge. I have multiple records to back that up. Apparently, they married about 1882 and had 4 children as listed. Cyprian was previously married to Rose Maurer who died Feb 1881. They lived in Reading, PA and had children, as well. After Rose died, he and his children moved to New Jersey. It is not certain when they married, as they might have lived in NY before 1880 and records cannot be found, possibly lost in the courthouse fire. Both of them might have had previous marriages, Rose to a Schilling, my connection to the family, so Maria could have been Cyprian's third spouse.

I am curious about the name, "Joseph M", and the spelling of "Cyprain", as all records we have simply use Cyprian or, as in the 1880 census, "Zsipperaen" Kuster, which I believe was another form of Cyprian. Was Joseph M in the official cemetery records or an assumption from family records?

I am not sure if you are the person who had requested photos for Herman Kluge. I had an hour to kill in Jersey City while my daughter had an interview, so stopped at the cemetery. Apparently it had been abandoned by the city, but a group of volunteers have undertaken the clean-up and up-keep in the last year or so. 2 of the volunteers were there at the time. They said that they had recently unearth Herman's headstone which had been toppled. The side with Herman's (and Annie, Sofie and Herman ?Jr?) info on it had been buried for years. The opposite side was lying flush with the soil. It has the name Kuster on it. Could it be that Mary remarried this mr. Kuster? I think his name is Cyprian????? He was born Sept. 28, 1841 and died April ?, 1898. Below his name is Mary Kuster, an unreadable year - 1904. If you want to add memorials for these others, I will add the photos for them. Best, Bonnie B.
