Most of the entries I have made are family members of mine, but some were complete cemetery entries. If you are a family member of one of these persons, please feel free to contact me. I have many years of research to share. The real joy of genealogy is passing on the information to others.

Joanna H Johnson
Joanna H Johnson was the daughter of my gg grandfather David Johnson b 1774 died 1822 (150085453). What is your resource for her mother being Polly Cauldwell? My research is different. David Woodruff Johnson born 1811 and died 1879 was my g grandfather. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Lawrence,

I do not believe parentage of the above is correct.
They are likely the grandparents or other relatives.

Susana would have been 60 years old at the time of Maria's birth.

If you concur, can you plz remove them as parents?

Thanks,

James Hastings
OK, just peeking at other Ancestry trees, they have James Hastings from Ireland as the father of Robert Hastings, which if true, would make Robert Hastings (father of Eliza Ellen Hastings) the brother of William "Haistings" who married Nancy Laugh.

I see people have Robert Hastings marrying Ellen or Margaret Laws or Lough, same family I am fairly certain of that. The Lough family was also from Ireland I know that much for sure. Often written as "Laugh." Or even "Law."

I have been trying to break a brick wall in another similar surname and I strongly feel William "Haistings" relates to it in some way. It would probably try your patience if I were to just dump what I know here about that brick wall, so I won't.

But, if I am related to William then I would also be related to Eliza Ellen.

RE: Question
Hello;

Thank you for your note.

I had to go back and revisit my work, because this is a line which is fairly new to me.

So it's all in progress; so I cannot fully answer at this point whether I am related to Eliza Ellen's descendants yet, or not...

I notice people on Ancestry have her parents as Robert Hastings and Ellen Margaret "Laws." I know I am related to Nancy Laugh/Law/Laws who married William "Haistings," and am trying to figure out if I am related to him as well. There is a DNA match (me with another of their descendants), but since I'm related to her there's no way to know yet if the match was to William or to Nancy.

I'm unclear as yet on Eliza Ellen's forebears. I did sooo much work on that tree in one go that as often happens if I am having a very fruitful research day, I dig and dig and cross check and cross check and then really need to revisit it later to have it really comprehensive in memory.

(Hope that makes sense.)

So if the Haistings and Laugh/Law/Laws family intermarried quite a bit, DNA might not be useful in determining if I am related to William's line as well, or not.

I began to dig in his line because I have a brick wall by that surname and same county and same migration pattern. Am trying to find if they connect. If super lucky it could give clues to my brick wall dilemma.

Would be great to hear any info you are willing to share.

RE: Question
Yes I do have connections albeit it may be a distant one. Will give more info later tonight or perhaps tomorrow, once I can look at my tree and notes again.

Trying to figure out some brick walls and going down lots of rabbit trails, along the way and finding new connections in the tree.
