RE: Dunn Cemetry
Re: Lydia Ann Edwards, update...

I searched through the cemetery listings at this site:

http://mercer.genwebsite.org

and found Lydia Ann Edwards and Nicholas Edwards listed in Griffith Cemetery. The Find-a-grave entries for Griffith cemetery do not include any Edwards.

So it may be Lydia Ann Edwards is not in Dunn Cemetery but in the Griffith Cemetery. It appears that the listing for burials on that Genweb site are from a book, not from physically roaming the cemeteries.

Re: Lydia Ann Edwards - update 2

Now I'm certain that Lydia Ann Edwards was buried in Griffith Cemetery. Find-a-grave has an entry for Irene Ellen Peckinpaugh in Griffith cemetery. Irene's mother was Elizabeth Edwards Peckinpaugh, sister of Nicholas Edwards, and therefore, sister-in-law to Lydia Ann Edwards.

It would make sense that kin would be buried in the same cemetery. Irene and Lydia died about 1 1/3 years apart.

The Find-a-grave memorial for Lydia Ann Edwards, #125686141,
I believe, is for the grave of the wife of Nicholas Edwards, who is buried in the Aldeo Cemetery, memorial #121014583.

I have copies of letters Nicholas wrote to Lydia Ann's brother informing him of her death. Her death was sudden and unexpected. Nicholas said he thought she just had a bad cold, so it was some respiratory ailment that caused Lydia's death.

You can see what I have on Nicholas and Lydia Ann here:

http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=flenj&id=I61

About 10 years after Lydia died Nicholas married Elvira Lucretia Randlet Edwards, the widow of his older brother, Abraham.

There is a Find-a-Grave memorial for a Nichols Edwards, #125686121, in Dunn Cemetery, which makes me wonder if another child of theirs died, and was buried there, or if a marker for Nicholas was placed for the future.

If there isn't a stone for Lydia Ann Edwards, I wonder where the information came from to create her memorial.

Probably the easiest way is to use Google Maps. Find the cemetery, then right-click your mouse on the spot and select "What's Here?" It will show the coordinates.

Thanks sooo much for taking these two photos for me, especially the Horace Palmer one since it is in such bad shape and needs to be documented through photgraphs of what is left. You rock!!!

Samuel Moore
Hi Maria -
I think you have the gravestone photograph of Samuel Moore, Jr. attached to the memorial of Samuel Moore, Jr. in Rose Hill Cemetery. You may wish to double check the memorials.
