|I am a Story County, Iowa genealogist as well as a family genealogist. As a member of the Nevada Community Historical Society, I undertook to research the family history of the people who established the properties owned by the historical society and the project expanded from there.|
I have been doing genealogy since I was teenager and love the research opportunities and record keeping computerized genealogy affords.

Thanks for all the Sheffield and Doolittle info you have sent. This is all so much help. Again thanks.

Mary could not have been a child of Christopher Raymond Perry and Sarah Wallace Alexander. Sarah was from Ireland and they met after the Revolutionary War in 1784 and lived in Kingston, Rhode Island.

I was uploading pic I took yesterday, and am stumped. I was in block 7, taking pix of the Hadleys. I tried to upload a grave stone on Jon Hadley, but he's not on the cemetery list. b Mar.29, 1965, died Nev 30, 1991. Husband of Linda, but she's not on the list. Then as I was reading the story on Herb Hadley, I saw he and his wife had adopted their nephew Milo Hadley who is the son of William Milo Hadley. On your report you have them listed as the parents, but don't mention Herb and Stella adopting and raising him from a young age. Herb lists him as his adopted son remaining at his death, and lists his grandson, Milo's son. I thought maybe you could add them to Milo's report. Annd do you know Jon M. Hadley, or do I make a report? Thanks again.

I'd like u to verify that this is the correct gravestone. It was next to Myrtle Hardy. I believe his stone says Carl A son of ? ? Hardy. I think the dates are right. I don't want to upload the wrong one. I did the Bradley Lee Rehor memorial today. Please check. Also, what about the other one, I don't remember the name. The baby w/ the same name. I may be in Nevada Tues. maybe we can meet?

I'm confused, and need your help. In the Nevada Cemetery, there's a listing for Donald Williams birth 1928 death 1928. But, I took a pix of a double grave for Mary Ailene Williams and Donald Lee Williams, birth mar 8, 1920, death June 22, 2014. I uploaded the pic on the Donald Williams site and realized the date was wrong. I checked ancestry, and Donald Lee Williams Find A Grave was there, and he was listed as cremated or other under burial in the Nevada Cemetery. I don't remember the Find A Grave number.I left the pic in this site, and am hoping you can clear this up, since you posted it. Donald Lee Williams is not listed in the Nevada Cemetery listings. He is a WW II vet, and needs a military marker, too. Thanks. Jean

This stone is quite impressive. I couldn't get it to go upright, however. I am concerned because I could see tire tracks over the top, and assume that the mowers are just driving over the top. I'm afraid that in time, they'll break it, not to mention that I'm sure it cost a lot and it is disrespectful to do that. I wonder about putting plantings around it and a small fence. Is there any family that you know of? What do you think? I don't think telling them to not drive over it will work. There are quite a few ferns & lilies of the valley plantings nearby that could maybe be transplanted.
Links and edits made. Thanks so much for sending the additional information. I do appreciate it!

I see you found a couple of graves I couldn't find! That shows the master, and who's the novice. Thank you. I finished the rest of the requests today, but found a few that are missing and requested them so they could be documented. I also photographed a Wintermeyer marker in section 31 which didn't come up on the Nevada Cemetery site for some reason. It is a large double marker for Emmor who died in 1968. His wife, Fay, is not marked as deceased, but I think I snapped the photo because it was freshly dug. I also took a photo of Janice Lee Steward, and saw you put in a request for her husband. She still had funeral flowers on the site, but no Find A Grave yet. I still would love to meet you and get some pointers since I have just started taking photos. I have found it difficult, but good exercise. I love challenges, and this certainly is one. I thought you would just jump out of the car, snap this pic, and take off! NOT THE CASE!!! But, I am learning the Nevada Cemetery which will help. Thank you for your help.
