 | RE: Johan Bernard Droege Hi Mike,
Among other sources for Johan Droege, I used census records, Calhoun marriage records, Calhoun County cemetery books and familysearch.org to try to confirm some what I found on RootsWeb. What I found on RootsWeb turned out to be quite accurate.
Also, I'm pretty sure you sent me some of the information! I was thinking you were the person who told me about the stained glass windows.

 | RE: Joseph Ducep/Hardin Cemetery Calhoun County Mike,
Thanks for the explanation about the Ducep/Ducept spellings. I really wondered about that one. I've got more than one example in my family tree of siblings who spelled their surnames differently from each other for a variety of reasons.
I worked on the Ducep Find A Grave memorials that belong to me and tried to get things fixed. However, if you spot any of mine that still aren't right, give me a shout! (Edit tab on that memorial is the easiest way for me.)
Thanks again for the info.

 | RE: Anthony Droege Hi Mike,
I've been working on St. Joseph's Cemetery all spring and intended to write to you soon to see if you had any other information on the Droeges that you wanted me to add.
The memorial for your dad was created by you. That's why you were able to add links and change the bio. I think what made it confusing was that I took pictures of his stone and added them to your memorial--you probably saw my name on the picture credit.
You're definitely correct that you can only change bios and add links on Find A Grave if you are the owner/creator of a memorial. However, you can add pictures to any memorial, whether or not you created it.
I remembered corresponding with you last fall about the Droege family, so I tried to photograph every Droege marker at St. Joseph's for you. I just finished getting the pictures I took in March added to Find A Grave last week. I have a few of the older stones I'm still trying to identify, but some may turn out to be impossible to figure out.
I am always happy to add information or links to the memorials I have created on Find A Grave. I do my best to have everything correct, but don't hesitate to let me know if you catch any errors or omissions.
Hope you like the pictures.

 | Droege family Hi Mike,
Thanks a lot for the additional information and corrections you sent! I believe I have taken care of all of them, but be sure to let me know if you see anything else that should be changed.
We're planning a trip to St. Joseph to take pictures next spring, and I will be sure to look for Droeges.
If you have more dates, maiden names, birth/death places, marriage info, etc., etc. for any of the Droeges, don't hesitate to let me know via the edit tab. I will be happy to take care of it.
Thanks again, Lynn | | | Tom

 | RE: Lambert Droege Mike,
I don't know if this will be of any interest to you or not, but I did visit several cemeteries in Calhoun County earlier this month. I found a marker for Lambert Droege's grandson (and namesake) at Wilson Cemetery in Batchtown.
If you want to see a picture of the stone for Lambert Albert Droege (1872-1929), or the information I came up with for him, his Find a Grave memorial number is 53712287. He was married to Lena Dorris Droege (1880-1970).
I don't know if Wilson is officially affiliated with a church or not, but an overwhelming majority of the people buried there seem to have been Lutheran (or married to Lutherans).
I have more relatives at St. Matthew Lutheran Cemetery in Brussels than anywhere else in Calhoun, but I found lots of relatives at Wilson, too. I'm not familiar with Lena Dorris' family, so I don't know if they were Catholic or Lutheran or something else.
You said in your note that the elder Lambert Droege's brother is buried in Meppen. Would that be at St. Joseph's? My genealogy partner and I stopped by there, too, but that cemetery is pretty big and the extremely steep terrain was more than we wanted to tackle by the time we arrived. There are so many old stones at St. Joseph's that you could spend days exploring there.
I just wanted to let you know about finding a younger Lambert Droege in Calhoun County since you had asked me about his grandfather earlier. I'm planning another trip as far north as Batchtown again this fall and will be sure to photograph any Droege markers I find.

 | RE: Lambert Droege Mike,
So far, I've completed St. Matthew Lutheran Cemetery and St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Brussels. I've also photographed all the stones at Deer Plain Cemetery. I have them all on Find A Grave and right now I'm trying to add short bios for as many memorials as possible.
My photography has been concentrated on cemeteries a little closer to home recently, but I'm planning another trip to Calhoun County fairly soon.
I want to take some more pictures in the southern part of the county. I don't know if I'll do any more complete cemeteries in Calhoun or not--it kind of depends on their size, location and how much time I have. I probably won't go much farther north than Batchtown.

 | RE: Lambert Droege Mike,
The information I had on Lambert Droege was from an old Calhoun Cemetery book. We photographed EVERY stone at St. Mary's in November, but didn't find a stone for him.
There were about a half-dozen markers in such bad condition that it was absolutely impossible to determine whose they were. Several from Lambert Droege's era were listed in the cemetery book, but no stones were found.
Every single marker that could be identified in St. Mary's Cemetery is currently pictured on Find A Grave.
