This has been a task of love, wonder and disapointment. When you find a relative and get to know them through records and old photos , you wonder at their life and grow to love them. When you only find a few things and it becomes harder to find who they are , you find disapointment. I know that some of my family will never be found and I wish I could let them know I will always remember them. My family thinks I'm kinda on the flaky side for all the time I spend doing this, but some day they too may want to know where they came from. And I feel closer to those who have passed away by just knowing they where here. What with my parents' families and those of my childrens fathers sides, I have tons of Dead people around. At least they don't cause a lot of noise and don't talk back. Family will always remember.

RE: Shoptaw Family
I remember a small cemetery next to a little chapel that had a larger cemetery on the other side of the church. I can't remember the name of the church or cemetery but at the time we visited the small cemetery was overgrown with weeds and we saw a couple snakes which turned me away ....so I did not go back in there. The weeds were past our knees at that time. I was told that was Shoptaw Cemetery I am sorry but I have no idea who might be buried there and the only ES I know of is an Edom Sylvanis but he is in KY. Sorry I can't help you with those in that cemetery. If I find any other info I will be happy to share with you.

thank you for adding more info that I sent. I also like your belief about finding our ancestors and kinsmen--i.e. like I know them although I never met nor saw them. Found some I didn't even know I had, thanks to others who contributed cemetery lists, etc. Hope this site is never put up for a price. winnie

Headstones
Hello,

I did not take the photos of the headstones, so you would need to contact the people who took the photos. I only created the memorials. Thanks.

RE: Thank You
Marlene

Thanks so much for the kind words. I wanted to let you know that the lettering for the Shoptaw cemetery sign has been peeling off so last week I contacted the Jackson township trustee who oversees the cemetery signs and markers and I asked him about replacing the Shoptaw sign with a new one. I am also trying to work at getting the local cemetery preservation society to help us replace the foundations for the broken off stones that are in Shoptaw. I will keep you up to date on the progress. Take care.

Sherrie and Tim.
