I started researching my husband's family several years ago when we "inherited" all the photos, newspaper clippings, wedding invitations, etc. that his grandmother had kept. I didn't want to throw it all out because it was a lifetime of memories and keepsakes so I began to organize it on a genealogy database. Then I was "hooked"!|
I accidently stumbled onto my cousin's posting on a message board while I was searching for information on MY family and this thing just took on a life of it's own.
I volunteered to take photos for Find-a-Grave after I requested and received some for my postings. It was so exciting to see the stones that I thought it would be nice to reciprocate. I also think I have a "sixth sense" or the deceased just "call to me" because since I started taking photos, I've been to cemeteries that I've never been to and I just seem to be able to walk right up to the grave! I've done it almost every time!
If I have posted something incorrectly or if I have posted something you feel is inappropriate, please email me or leave a message and I will correct it.
I am not related to any of the postings for Mifflin County, PA so I will gladly transfer memorials to a family member, no matter how distant. PLEASE USE THE EDIT TAB AT THE MEMORIAL TO MAKE THE TRANSFER REQUEST. It's much easier that way and all the necessary information is there.
Any photos I post here are free to be used by anyone. If you do not want me to use your photos, please do not claim my requests.

Thanks for all the transfers of Shores from Mifflin Co!

Thanks so much, Mona, for transfering the memorial for David McConauaghey's spouse. I have been busy adding info from charts.
I love your story of genealogy beginnings dumped in your lap. Thanks for all the follow-up work you've been inspired to do.

Thank you so much!!!

I have removed the burial information for Phillip Kreis. I took the information from a journal left by his descendants: "Grandfather then lived with different ones of his children, and finally died at Uncle Jacob's at Strod's Miles [sic] six miles west of Lewistown and was buried there." If you do find a marker from 1862, I would appreciate the information.

Hi Mona, thanks for posting Mary's headstone.

Yes, we were trying to fill all the requests for the cemeteries in a group outside of Johnsonburg on a second trip and took a last minute detour on the way home to check the detective work we did on this one. Naturally we had driven by it probably three times before looking for Johan Anderson. So the photo was shot as the sun was setting..

Found Angieline Piccirillo b. Feb.6, 1876 d. Jun 16, 1939 and Urbano Piccirillo b. Jan. 17, 1875 d. Mar. 11, 1950 in the same plot as we believe they were John's parents. We did photos of the markers but decided to see if you wanted to do memorials before we post them.

Thank you for the obit for Mardell Boring. I have added it to her memorial page.
I appreciate your helping me. If there is anything else you see, I can add to any of my memorials, let me know.
You are so very welcome. There was a plaque. For some reason it was removed, you can see the imprint. When I go back I will check with the office.

You're welcome and thanks for posting the request.
Parklawn is one of those "modern" cemeteries with the flat in ground markers. Not only are they a pain to find but require some prep to photograph. Then yesterday the sun played havoc with us. We were considering ignoring doing this one but there were so many requests and it seemed no one was interested in filling them.
