Missing my son, Mark Allen Israels. II.
November 20, 1988
July 6, 2012
Losing a child is the most horrific pain one will ever feel.

The "Hillside Cemetery" in Reno was my motivation for Find A Grave. I had been a resident of Reno for 20 years before I knew of its existence. I finally found where the Hillside Cemetery was located and when I went there I was so appalled, outraged and shocked at the condition of the final resting place for many of Washoe County's finest citizens.

I started researching the cemetery online and found a survey prepared by Dolores Samuels Young and Mildred Chandler Pressell, back in 1955. Thank God, these ladies took the time to record all of the headstones that were legible at that time. Without their survey who knows how many people would have been forgotten.

I try everyday to find some little piece of information for the people buried in the Hillside Cemetery.

May God bless you and keep you safe in his loving arms.

RE: Mary Ambrose grave site at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Reno NV
Thank you Mark's Mom for the transfer and for finding her in the first place. Seems her brother who also died in infancy is buried next to her. Plus her mom and dad are buried in a plot in a different section of the same cemetery. Take care Carl Ambrose

VanBuren
I wanted to let you know that I have edited Wm M VanBuren (1892) - It is really Sadie E VanBuren, daughter of William Myers and Francis E Crum. She is the twin of Anson. They were born March 19, 1892, she died Dec 29, 1892. The notice of her death appeared in the Daily Nevada State Journal on Dec 30, 1892.

RE: Mary Ambrose grave site at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Reno NV
Hi Bernice! Finally got to visit Our Mother Of Sorrow cemetery in Reno and found quite a few of my relations there including 3 that did not have markers due to a cemetery move from St Thomas to Our Mother Of Sorrow that include Mary Ambrose. I added photos of the most likely place her remains had been transferred with flowers I laid by her. thanks for adding my grand aunt to Find A Grave and I hope you approve of the photos I added to Mary's memorial. Joseph Devese
I was looking for the death of Rosetta Augusta Sigler-DeVese-Heaton, and came across your posting in FindAGrave. Her first husband, was my 2nd cousin 3x removed. I'm related to his mother's side of the family (Eliza Green-DeVese-Beck) - the Green side. His full name was Joseph Lybrand DeVese. He was born about 1839 in New Jersey. At this time I do not know his father's name (still working on finding that out), but his mother, as I said, was Eliza Green. Thank you for your contributions! You have now not only helped me with Rosetta's death and burial info, but also I now understand why Joseph died so young, and thank you for listing his military info!

Thanks so much for the transfer. The McQuitty family who had so much Civil War history and were elbow to elbow with the Boone family they married into, give us a deeper, interesting look at how life was for them back then.

Love those Zinkers
Enjoyed your virtual cemetery of zinc monuments. I thought I was the only one with a virtual cemetery to those interesting monuments. We call them "white bronze."

You have captured some unique ones.

Best regards!

William E. Gould #13208151
Would appreciate the transfer of this memorial as well. Do you know why Frederick Lincoln Gould and Allen Dolby Gould are designated as half-siblings? Any sources? A close Gould cousin gave me some of the history and it did not appear in her information. Thanks Donna

Hi again Please transfer this memorial to me. The Siglers and the branch of the Goulds are connected (Allen D. Gould being the great-grandfather of my son). Thanks
