Sorry, but I don't give any more credence to the info on a death certificate as I do what is on the tombstones, which is where that info probably came from that the historical society used in compiling their books.
I've seen birth certificate, Bible info, death certificate and tombstone all with a different date on them, not to mention census records. Info is only as good as the informant and they are sometimes not right.
So I usually list all info in the bio and let someone else take their pick as to which is the correct date.

Oh, how about that? I did see the death certificate and as my note mentions, it said one thing and the stone another. I have a copy of it if you wish to see it. Cannot attach it to a "public message however. Sorry.
It clearly shows the name Barton but the dates are the same as on the Burton stone. It all gets confusing so I did the best I could in trying to be "accurate".
There is a BW Barton who signed the death cert. Wm is widowed, wife name Anna. I show a Wm J. living in 1920 residens of a Bennett William Burtin--dates seem right. William is listed as being buried in Pleasant Grove where I took the headstone photo. I find the marriage cert in Kentucky on 10 October 1861 for William and Mary E. Kitchen.
There are three "user submitted" genealogies on Familysearch.org that are all the same information. No "Anna" listed as wife--nickname?
So this is still a mystery I guess. I would have to say after doing the searching again I'd have to say this is Burton--but wonder why the informant who appears to be the son, would sign HIS name as Barton??

Cheryl, Findagrave doesn't have a process for linking a child to a parent. You have to link the parent from the child's entry. Robin created that entry so she would have to make the link. Sorry.

I have some grave photos of the Moore family. I was told that the cemetery was Moore. I have not found it listed in F.A.G. Mason Co, WV. the names on the markers are Fred Moore b Apr 17, 1880 d Jan 11, 1903, William middle initial unreadable Moore b 1827 d death unreadable....wife Aveta b 1837 d unreadable. It is the same cemetery where Preston Martin, and the Barcus Family is buried. Please see if you can get someone to go to the Cemetery to register it into F.A.G., also, please let me know if you can. Thanks Cheryl For your message. I discovered it this morning when checking e-mail. All my contacts & saved e-mails were gone. I have changed my password & contacted yahoo to have my saved e-mails & contacts restored. When I checked my e-mail before bed at midnight all was fine, checked it at 10 in the morning all was wiped somewhere between that time is when it happened. I don't use anything online except a pre-paid debit card, this way they don't get any of my bank info. Everyone thinks this was the safest thing I could do.
