I have a handwritten will, from Amelia Rose,1778-1863, dated 1858, regarding the grove plantation in Charleston, SC. She was sister to Arthur Gordon Rose, whose daughter Amelia Laura Rose gave birth to Arthur Rose Geurard, 1851-1937.If you are interested, I can send you a copy of the file. Yesterday I visited with my cousin Penelope, daughter of Roland Guerard (famous ballet dancer) who is the son of Madeline and Arthur. She gave me a copy of a picture of Madeline which I posted on my tree. She also has the Bonclarken book and an origional Rx booklet of Arthur. We both suspect her daughters Madeline Violet and Marguerite are also Arthur's daughters and only claimed them to be her children from her deceased husband as a cover up for their affair since he was still married to Eugenie. The book indicated that the girls looked like the other Guerard children, so people must have thought they were his daughters. As we all are aware, an affair producing children would have been frowned upon in Charleston society or in any society at that time.
I found portraits of Margaret Smith's parents, Judge William Smith and Mary Dubois Het; and the portraits of Amelia Rose Guerard's great grandparents, Col John Gibbes and Mary Woodward.
The Smith family are very fasinating. Joshua Hett Smith, the youngest of the family was accused of treason with Benedict Arnold. There is a fabulous book that includes much on the family. http://www.amazon.com/Accomplice-Treason-Joshua-Hett-Smith/dp/B002AQ1EX4

I descend from Marie Louise Guerard 1903-1952. Her son, my father is Albert Roger Hartzell 1932-2003.
I have a tree on "Ancestry" and have included the pictures and info you included here.
I just discovered Alexander Rose's lineage beyond Hugh Rose of Kilravock. He is a direct descendent of England's King Henry Vll.
Our geneology has been an exciting adventure.
