|"I believe in preserving the family heritage of past generations for future generations."|
My dear dad Donald Putman was a WWII veteran and is buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. He is in heaven now and after his passing I became interested in genealogy and with the help of volunteers have acquired several photographs along my search.
I have done the same for others, gone to cemeteries in the Denver metro area to take photos of headstones requested by families. It is my way of "paying it forward", to help others in their search like so many volunteers did for me. I have a special place in my heart for veterans and it's the least I can do for them, as I thank them for their service.
Even when I take a road trip, I search to see if there is a cemetery on the way to our destination that I could help assist with requested photos from www.findagrave.com. It takes so little time and hopefully may help a family in some way. I think my dad would be pleased to know that I do this. It is very rewarding with all the kind emails I receive.
My family names that I constantly search for are Putman-Meglemre-Griswold-Nicholas-Lull

|Connie||Cowgill Dunham Family|
I am working on an application for DAR. I thought I had it all done but DAR says I don't have enough documentation for a George Cowgirl and wife Elizabeth Dunham. I have a death certificate for their daughter Elizabeth Cowgill married to Davis Randolph but the informant only but "Cowgill" and "Dunham" on the DC not first names and DAR won't take it as proof of her parentage. So question, do you have any documentation. Bible Records, death certificates of other siblings, Books,
Cowgill history by Beatrice Cowgill. Obituaries, anything.
Thank you so very much. Notice my last name is Lull.
Are yours from Vermont or New York. I have lots of information.

I came across your memorial for Ione Bolton and I believe that she was a distant cousin. I saw your note about wanting information about her family. Not sure if you've made any connections or gathered what you were looking for, but I'd love to connect and share notes. I believe Ione's grandfather, Rudolph Link, was my great grandmother Anna Link's brother.
If you would like to talk further, you can message me here or email me at Kristen.beckman @ att . net (close spaces). Thanks!
|E. Mickelson||Putman's in Longmon MV Cemetery|
I maintain the database for the Longmont, CO, Mountain View Cemetery for the Longmont Genealogical Society. We continue to search in newspaper and public records for information for those graves that are unmarked, or for which we have no other information. We then include this information in our DB and it goes into the cemetery books we publish (now done as CDs) every five years.
Last night I came across the memorial for your grandmother Della PUTMAN, # 29269125. I was moved by the excellent character of the memorial and the touching story you tell.
I am reaching out to you because we have a Donald L PUTMAN listed in an adjoining plot, Blk 34, Lot 9, Sp 8. But we have no life dates or other information for him. I initially thought this might be your father, and if there is no marker we would not have dates. However, from your bio I see your father is interred a Ft. Logan. So I wonder if the information associating this name with this plot was picked up from cemetery records. Perhaps, at one point intended as his final resting place, but plans changed and he was interred at Ft. Logan. Or he may have just been the listed owner of this plot, acquired at the time of your grandmother's death?
I won't speculate further, but any data you could provide about this plot, if anyone is buried there, and if there is a burial, any information regarding them, such as name, life dates, etc. would be very much appreciated. If you can confirm no one is buried in this plot, we'll remove the entry (as erroneous) from the database.
Thank you very much in advance for your assistance,
E. Mickelson, for
Longmont Genealogical Society
P.S. This may sound a bit strange until you realize we have nearly 3,500 unmarked graves in this cemetery. Running them all down is a big and ongoing project for us.

Glad to transfer. Thanks for taking care of the memorial. Debbie J.
|V Flesher||Garthel and Iva Sherwood|
I meant to say they were buried in Washington state, not California.
|V Flesher||Iva Sherwood|
Looking at information on Iva who married Garthel Leroy Sherwood, I find them buried in California. Garthel was son of Dora Dell Derrickson and John Thomas Sherwood. I am connected to Dora by her grandmother, Phebe Foreman Derrickson, dau of John Foreman and Margaret Gimble Foreman, who are buried in Shelby Co IN. This is Iva's memorial and Garthel is also buried there.

You are very welcome!! I just recently started doing this and I'm really enjoying it. I love to hear stories about the people I'm getting the headstone pictures of. I'm in my early 30's, fought off cancer and had major back surgery last year so this is something I can do that I enjoy.
There isn't a way for you to merge your two accounts. You will have to contact one of the site administrators and ask them to do it for you. They will need to know both of your Find a Grave contributor numbers. Hope this helps, good luck!
Jodie, do you have two accounts on Find a Grave?
I want to be sure that the memorial goes to the correct account. Let me know, and thanks!
Would you send your transfer request again, but use the "edit" tab on the memorial to send the request?
