Memorial #97528736 - William H. Oliver

The memorial for William H. Oliver has incorrect information that apparently has him mixed up with someone else. This grave belongs to William Henry Oliver, the son of Stephen A. Oliver and Caroline Laskey. He was born on 5 Aug 1879 and died on 8 Dec 1944.

Nora May Lyons Thornton

Wanted to advise you that the birthdate and death date is wrong for this person in Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. She is my Grand Aunt, my Grandfather's older sister. She was born May 3, 1890 and died on July 15, 1963. Even though the headstone says 1891 (she was always trimming years off her age - sometimes up to 3-4 years - but the headstone is only one year off - so guess she got by with at least one year).

Since you manage her gravesite on Find a Grave - I thought you might want to know the correct dates.

RE: ID Military in Westlawn-Hillcrest
That is OK. But if you do know of anyone, please let us know. Please share with others about the project as we want to honor as many as we can that have served in the military and are buried at Westlawn.

RE: ID Military in Westlawn-Hillcrest
Would you please verify that I have the name correct of the person you know buried at Westlawn-Hillcrest William J Matherly. Do you know where he is buried? The cemetery office did not have that spelling.

Thank you,

RE: ID Military in Westlawn-Hillcrest
Thank you for the name. We have added him to our list. If you know of any others that served in the military, please let us know. Many of those that served are not marked on the graves, so we miss them unless we are told.
This is a project sponsored by Centennial Masonic Lodge. Word of mouth is our best contributor to this project.

ID Military in Westlawn-Hillcrest
We are currently working to identify anyone buried in Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery Omaha NE that has served in the military. If you have a loved one entombed there or no of someone, please send us a message. We place flags on the graves for Memorial Day.

If you can send us the names, we will be sure to include them on our list to get a flag.

Thank you for the help with this ongoing project.

You sent me an obit for this gentleman saying he died and was buried in Streator, Ill. However, the obit says he died in 2002 and he was 96. The headstone in Iowa says he wss born in 1931. Perhaps the one in Ill. is his father?
