PLEASE REQUEST TRANSFERS.... If you are related and can enhance the memorial by adding additional information, please request transfer, giving me your relationship. No transfers just for collection of a particular family name. |
If you request a transfer, be sure you are committed to a lifetime of maintaining the memorial. Unfortunately a few of my older transfers are maintained by contributors who no longer respond.
IMPORTANT: When sending information to add, give source of information. Without sources, sorry, but changes will not be made. With new quick edits, this is still important. Unless evident on memorial, please use the other suggestion and include source. Please note that online trees, such as ancestry's, are not valid sources unless documentation is attached to the tree.
We've searched many graveyards, seen stones that were in such disrepair, and wondered what would happen to them as time marched on. This site is a wonderful way to preserve, if not the actual stone, at least a replica by photograph for future genealogists. Our eldest son has also gained in interest in photographing the stones and we have enjoyed working these cemeteries together and searching out requests.
If you have taken better gravestone photos that what we have posted, please post yours and send a message - we will review and delete ours if appropriate.
I may try to contact contributors if I question an edit. For those who hide themselves completely by not showing email or allowing comments, my only choice is to decline and hope they resubmit with additional information.
Happy graving to all!
---Linda & family
October 2014 - Our son has taken on the project of photographing all the stones at Cumberland Valley Memorial Garden in Carlisle. I will be posting these photos as quickly as possible. He has also helped me photograph other local cemeteries -- a big THANKS goes out to him.

Thank you so much for the pics of Nora's memorial and family monument. It is so unique. I hope you don't mind my adding them to my family tree and noting you took the photos.
Thanks very much for the picture of the Bobb memorial! Jessica

I would like to add a short bibliography(explanation) on his child Hattie Amelia Arnold, and her mother Annie Sollenberger. Annie and Luther had a child out of wedlock.
Would you consider this explanation? I do have credible county citations.

Yes - I did search on top of the hill behind the church but I didn't have a Section E to search. I will see what I can find. Her parents and other relatives are old stones way back on the left on top of the hill but I didn't find her there. Thank you for the info.

I tried to find the Memorial Cemetery you advised about but could find no record so will leave as is for now. I have been to the cemetery by the church and above where the other members of the family are buried.Never could locate a stone for her. Her husband is buried in Mechanicsburg Cemetery but no stone for him either. Are you able to find where in the cemetery she is buried? Thank you

Thanks for consideration of my edits. Bishop Hans Herr is my 9th Great Grandfather and I coincidently live on land settled by the "Herr party" in Lancaster County. My hobby is to research and record as much as I can about his descendants. I start by using the "Genealogical Record of Reverend Hans Herr and his Direct Lineal Descendants" by Theodore Herr published in 1908. It is a source cited by Lancaster Mennonite Society, Hans Herr historic sites, and updates were tracked by Lancaster Genealogical Bureau. I then check records from Ancestry.com, Findagrave, tombstones, and Internet sources. I will include an "edit" for the sources in the future to you.

Thanks to you and your son for taking cemetery photos. It is a lot of work to do so.
Keep up the good work
