I've been drawn to cemeteries for as long as I can remember, having often played among the old tombstones at Oxbow Lakeside Cemetery while growing up in White Lake, Michigan.|
If you would like to leave a flower for my Dad, I'd really appreciate it. Please & thank you! :) December 10, 2013 will be his 29th Angel Day. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him, he was a wonderful person and parent.
My family genealogy names include Burks, Kerr, Ellison, Fitzgerald, Glazier, Vidlicka, Corley (Curley, Kurlick), Tomorackas and Tiscavitch.
It's taken me a while but I have added a page for my sweet Jackpot, who is one in a long line of beloved furbabies who have gone to the Rainbow Bridge.
Since moving to Los Angeles in 1988, I've explored celebrity graves as a hobby and along the way have been just as moved by the neighboring "civilian" headstones that surround and outnumber them. I have been a member of The Hollywood Underground since March 1998.
I run the GrandViewMemorialPark.info website in order to keep the public informed about the ongoing closure/lawsuit story happening there in Glendale, Calif. The cemetery is expected to re-open in late 2013.
Special thanks goes out to fellow graver Linda Mustion, who has worked tirelessly to record over 6,000 memorials to the Grand View FindAGrave page one by one. I'm also a member of the Grand View Volunteers group which added over 30,000 memorials to Grand View's page in 2010. We continue to fulfill requests and manage/transfer memorials to families seeking information on loved ones there.
Adventures in Grave Hunting is my cemetery-related blog. I haven't updated it in a while but the archives of old stories go back several years. I plan to resume updating it when Grand View gets back on its feet and I complete the book about its history. I have a huge backlog of interesting stories just waiting to be told when I have more free time.
My first contribution to Find A Grave was in August 2000, in honor of my grave hunting buddy Denis Svoboda.
I collect vintage photographs of grave markers and of people posing in cemeteries, wondering about the stories behind the snapshots. I like to match them with Find A Grave memorials that are already online, virtually reuniting loved ones whose pictures somehow ended up for sale here and there. See the evolving results here.

But in as much as they are buried there I am wondering if it is now open.

A new photo is up.
The stone has aged poorly and is almost completely indecipherable after the cross and his first name.
|sandlotball||RE: Robert V Faris|
That's great that you found him & uploaded it. Sad that it was at a flea market, isn't it ? I wonder if that's his widow and sons. Too bad it's been up for 2 years and still no family have shown up.
You should add the caption of where you found it.
|sandlotball||Robert V Faris|
You posted a photograph to the memorial for Robert V Faris, a veteran buried at Cypress Hills National Cemetery in Brooklyn. It shows 2 children and a woman standing at his tombstone.
Surprisingly, there is no caption with the photo. Nothing to state who these people are or why they are dressed the way they are. Nothing at all.
Who are these people ?
Look forward to your response.

Da nada. I don't know why, but some people seem to think that duplicates of memorials are a hanging offense. Go figure.

|Betty Allaire||Actor Harry Glazier|
I was looking at the Chronicling America, Historic American Newspaper on line. I read an article in the Los Angeles Herald dated December 19,1908.
FUNERAL OF ACTOR TO BE HELD AT GLENDALE.
Body of actor Harry Glazier Interred in Forest Lawn Cemetery Sunday services at 10:30 o'clock
There is more in the article.
I thought that since you made some memorial for the Glazier family you might like to check it out.

If you speak to Robert's sister's please tell them I have not given up!

I am Jennie Eva Hughes granddaughter and I would like to know if you are related to Jennie and if so thru whom. I have been many times to Jennie's gravesite here in Spokane Washington,and the name of the cemetery is Riverside Memorial Park.
