I've been drawn to cemeteries for as long as I can remember, having often played among the old tombstones at Oxbow Lakeside Cemetery while growing up in White Lake, Michigan.
If you'd like to, leave a flower for my Dad, I'd really appreciate it, please & thank you! :) His 29th Angel Day is December 10, 2013.
It's taken me a while but I have added a page for my wonderful fur-son, Jackpot.
Since moving to Los Angeles in 1988, I've explored celebrity graves as a hobby and along the way have been just as moved by the neighboring "civilian" headstones that surround and outnumber them. I have been a member of The Hollywood Underground since March 1998.
I run the GrandViewMemorialPark.info website in order to keep the public informed about the ongoing closure/lawsuit story happening there in Glendale, Calif. Special thanks goes out to fellow graver Linda Mustion, who has worked tirelessly to record over 6,000 memorials to the Grand View FindAGrave page one by one. I'm also a member of the Grand View Volunteers group which added over 30,000 memorials to Grand View's page in 2010. We continue to fulfill requests and manage/transfer memorials to families seeking information on loved ones there.
Adventures in Grave Hunting is my cemetery-related blog that might be of interest to you, too! Thank you to everyone for your positive response to my coverage of Michael Jackson in particular. ~ L.O.V.E. :)
My first contribution to Find A Grave was in August 2000, in honor of my grave hunting buddy Denis Svoboda.
I collect vintage photographs of people posing in cemeteries and wonder about the stories behind them. When I can find the grave here on Find A Grave I like to add them to the memorials to virtually reunite loved ones whose pictures somehow ended up for sale here and there. See a sample here.
Jean Harlow is the grave I visit that touches me most, as far a celebrities go. My website dedicated to her is The Platinum Page. Punk pioneers The Ramones, my forever crush Andy Gibb and the eternally sophisticated and urbane Franchot Tone mean a lot to me, too. ¢¾ | |

 | Quick follow-up. Hi Lisa,
I should have waited to post. I see now that not only is Adolphus at Grand View, but also Samuel and Eliza Ann, his parents. I'm checking out the Grand View website and "like"ing the facebook page. Hopefully I can get out there one Sunday afternoon, although it's a long bus ride.
Thanks, Gene | | | Gene Bivins
 | Adolphus Hartle Hi Lisa, My grandmother, Etta Irene Hartle (Dryer), had a brother named Adolphus Samuel, the middle name after his father, Samuel Hartle. You submitted an Adolphus Hartle from the Grandview Memorial Park. Is it possible this is my grand-uncle? Do you know any other information about him? I'd like to link to it, if I can be sure this is he.
Thanks, Gene Bivins | | | LynnAshworth
