Bio Photo I will not process Edits from anyone who does not have Messages enabled on their profile page. I must be able to contact potential contributors.

Please allow thirty (30) days for edits... I have a life outside of FindAGrave.com.

With the exception of links, POB/POD; I usually DO NOT accept blind edits, so please do not be offended when I request your source.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
TO POTENTIAL CONTRIBUTORS OF "ADDITIONAL INFO":
I appreciate additional info to memorials which I've created/maintain, but PLEASE LIMIT your info. This site is called FIND-A-GRAVE, not "Find The Genealogy History Of...".
I do not feel it at all appropriate to turn a memorial into an entire "genealogy work". Certainly it will be ONE, OF MANY valuable resources for genealogists in their research.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I will not accept "cut & paste" items from FamilySearch.org. Aside from it being PROHIBITED by their website, it's just tacky, tacky, tacky!

BTW...
For those genealogy novices who like to think every "record" hosted at FamilySearch.com is correct, THEY ARE NOT, as any seasoned genealogist will attest. For the purpose of this site, I record dates as inscribed on headstones. When presented with the possibility the stone info may be incorrect, I will certainly add a note regarding alternative dates.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Need to contact a contributor who has submitted edits/Info for a memorial I maintain? Cut & Paste the following link, then enter their ID#.
***I DO NOT POST OBITS, post 1922***
Please refer to Find A Grave's rules of use under FAQ, by clicking on "Help with Find A Grave" in the left-side menu.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I will not list a person who does not have a DOD inscribed on their stone, unless I have verified their death. Many people have pre-ordered their cemetery markers for the "inevitable", thus their name and DOB being posted online BEFORE THEY DIE, is a violation to their privacy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I endeavor to compare NAMES and DATES, so that I don't create an entry for someone previously listed by another variation of their name, so please let me know if I have duplicated a memorial.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

NOTE: 99% of the headstone photos I've added are best viewed when "clicked-on".
Headstone photo's may be copied to other sites WITH the proper citation to FindAGrave.com., but photos of INDIVIDUALS MAY NOT be used on ANY OTHER WEBSITE without my permission.

Question?
You have a note on his memorial "extra info" giving a different year of death than what is listed on the memorial, are you saying the date on the stone is wrong?
Thank you very much

RE: Collye Wellman Alford
Liz, the Alford American Family Association definitely has Collye Wellman Alford's name listed incorrectly, as Caldwell Winchester "Collye" Alford, in our online genealogy, Known Descendants of Edwin Barksdale Alford [http://www.alfordassociation.org/GENEALOGY/edw792nc.pdf]. We are currently having technical problems making changes to our posted PDF files, so we can't fix this right now.

Would you mind emailing me so I can share some more info on this family with you? I'd also like to ask a couple of questions.

Thanks,
Pamela Alford Thompson (Find A Grave #47195155)

RE: E. C. Chamblee
Hi Liz,

Brantley Eugene Clayton Chamblee's name sources
are:

"Brantley E. Chamblee" on the 1900 Federal Census
record for Blount County, Alabama, living with his
parents, William M. Chamblee and Jane Curl Chamblee, and his sister, Emma.

"Eugene Clayton Chamblee" on his Alabama Deaths and Burial Index, 1881 - 1974; and on the Birmingham, Alabama, Obituary Index 1930 - 1996.

E.C. was named after my 3rd great grandfather,
Brantley Augustus Adams, a local Baptist minister
for both Blount and Cullman Counties, from 1873
to 1904. Apparently, E.C. did not like his first
name of Brantley, and dropped it, which is why so
many researchers could not find him. I found him
after much digging, including purchasing an obit
for him.

If you need any more info, please let me know.

Thank you.

RE: Mary Shaw Edit
Susan is in the 1860, 1870, 1880 census, age consistent with being born in 1859 or 1860. That may be what she based the age on.

Here is what I know about my SHAW line. This article will appear in The
Heritage of Bibb County, Alabama, planned for release in April 1998.
Hope there is a connection out there!

John Thomas Shaw

John Thomas Shaw was born on January 31 1855 in Bibb County, Alabama.
He was a self-made individual who founded Shawtown, Section 20 and
Township 22 South, Range 6 West. He was baptized in September 1892 at
Mt. Moriah Church and was a Baptist Delegate to the Tuskaloosa
Association Meeting in 1896 representing (First Baptist Church of)
Woodstock. First and foremost, he was a farmer, but he also served as a
barber, a dentist and a sheriff, as well as managing his own commissary.
He died December 26 1937 and was buried in Caffee Cemetery, Bibb County,
Alabama (Caffee).

John was married first to Susan (Susie) Rogers who was born in 1851 and
died in January 1884; she was buried in Caffee. Their children were
Jack Shaw, born June 8 1876 and died July 25 1969 with burial in Mt.
Carmel Cemetery, Bibb County, Alabama (Mt. Carmel); J. Monroe Shaw, born
June 8 1878 and died December 30 1950 with burial in Mt. Carmel; and
Mary Shaw, born January 25 1882 with death and burial dates unknown.

Jack was married to Cynthia Champion on June 13 1901 in Bibb County, and
they had the following children: Myrtle, Willie Mae (who resides in Bibb
County), Maud, Andrew, Susie, Lucille, Annie and Marie (Sammie).

J. Monroe was married to Ruby Kornegay on April 13 1906 in Bibb County.
They had no children.

On February 16 1888 John married Mary Agnis Acker. Mary was born in
1860 and died on June 14 1898 with burial in Caffee. John and Mary had
no children.

In 1898, John gave shelter to an unwed mother in exchange for
housekeeping services; her name was Sarah Reaves. Sarah was born in
1860 and died June 18 1900 with burial in Caffee. Sarah gave birth to
Forrest Reaves in August 1898, and Forrest remained with John after
Sarah's death. In the 1900 Census, Bibb County, AL, PCT 1 Kingdom Beat,
Forrest is shown as a boarder, but in the 1910 Census, Bibb County, AL,
PCT 1, Kingdom Beat, he is listed as adopted.

In July 1900, John married Mari Etta Bowman (daughter of Wilson Bowman
and Emma Taylor) who was born June 10 1868 and died April 14 1941 with
burial in Caffee. John and Mari Etta had six children. Winnie Mae was
born June 25 1901 and February 4 1996 with burial in Caffee; Minnie Fay
was born September 19 1902 and died February 15 1927 with burial in
Caffee. Linnie Jay was born December 19 1905 and died December 23 1996
with burial in Mt. Carmel. Willie Ray and Lilly Day were born June 27
1908. Lilly died December 27 1908 with burial in Caffee; Willie still
resides in Shawtown. Marion Michael (Mike) was born August 8 1912 and
died August 26 1988 with burial in Mt. Carmel.

Winnie was married to Reverend William Fredrick Graham in mid-1925 in
Bibb County, and they had two children: Margie Ruth, born December 5
1925, and Daniel Pelham, born July 3 1928. Margie and Dan reside in
Shawtown.

Minnie married Rufus Posey in 1917 in Bibb County, and they had three
children: John Delora, born February 4 1921 and died January 16 1981
(Sgt. US Army WWII); Evelyn, born 1919, and Harold, born February 1927
and died October 1927. Evelyn Posey Hardemon resides in Woodstock.

Linnie married Eugene (Gene) Holland on July 23 1925 in Bibb County by
S. A. Henderson, M.G. They had ten children: John Edward, James David,
Franklin Eugene, Joyce Elaine, William Grant (died young), Carolyn
Virginia, Jon Shaw (f-died young), Rosemary Eugenia, Dorothy Jean and
