RE: James Holley Monk children
Thanks for answering me Sandra. The information about James Holly Monk online is from my research I believe. The James Holly Monk buried in Blossom, TX. has a deed naming his heirs and those who inherited his land which was in Lamar Co, TX. This lady was not one of those named. I did extensive work on him and his family. I found no death record for him but he stopped paying his taxes by 1863 and his children [those that I named] claimed his land in 1888. They lived with a sister of their mother, who had died in 1859, in Missouri. Who gave the information about this ladies death on her death certificate? Who did they name as her mother? I found she and a James Monk on the census , 1870 Cedar Creek twp. in Crawford Co, AR. She was living with a Robbert and Elizabeth Davis. She was next to a S. W. Melton. Her brother was living with an Erastus Payne. I also found a family tree that stated she must be some relation to Robert or Elizaabeth {Melton} Davis because she married Samuel Melton's stepson William H. Shepherd. Now, the interesting thing to me is that her picture actually looks a lot like a daughter of the James Holley MONK [who is my great-great grandfather], Amanda Monk Wilson. Do you have any idea how she got to AR?
Thanks for any further information you can give me to find out if this lady is indeed related to James Holley Monk?

James Holley Monk children
Dear Sandra,
The children of James Holley Monk are James Willis Monk, Mary Elizabeth Monk{Mrs.Sion Perry Bray), and Amanda Caroline Monk (Mrs Green McGomery Wilson]. Nancy Elizabeth Monk Shephard is NOT a child. Can you please correct this?

Rev. James L. Thomas
Hello Sandra,

I have just recently been researching my family history and I think that Rev. James L. Thomas' father was Martin Thomas 09-21-1811 to 10-21-1868.

I have seen several of your posts and realize that our family history's intersect somewhere along the line.

I was wondering If you might have any information on who Martin Thomas' parents were?

Rev. James L. Thomas was the father of James M Thomas who is the father of my grandfather (Chester Thomas}.

Thank you for all the assistance that you have already provided. You have been a great resource.

Steven Thomas

Let me first say that I am sorry to know this is your mother. My heart pours out sympathy for you There is nothing like a mother. I lost mine when I was 27 and I miss her still today as much as I did when God called her home. Let comfort be that she is at peace. I am thankful I caught that and it were able to be fixed. May the days ahead be a healing process for you and be blessed by the memories of your family. May God Bless and Merry Christmas.

I am just wondering her parents are buried at Tate Cemetery Franklin Co. AR but she is listed at Tate Cemetery Sebastian County in this Find A Grave cemetery listing their are only 18 memorials listed. I am just wondering if she isn't in same cemetery as Parents and a mistake has been made. I ask because some thing the same way happened to me back some time ago I took pic of a little graveyard some of my husbands famiiy was in and when I added them to Find A Grave it said there was way more than the 22 burials that was there After some inquiring and writing the person who took pic of cemetery, we realized their were two cemeteries same name different counties same state and they had been put in their by mistake. I was enjoying the memorials I am kin through the Ralph Lavern Jones who married Willie Ruth Holt and was following the memorials looking at them. I descend through Ruth's mother Campbell line. Any way just wanted to bring that to your attention.

Have a Merry Christmas

RE: Atkinson
Your welcome. Glad to be able to help. My wife's maiden name was Reese. Her mother was a Dollard. She is kin to the Peters, Teagues, Aday, Hatfield, etc... They lived over by the new highway exit for Mountainburg, over by the Silver Bridge. Most of her folks are buried in the Conley Cemetery, and they lived across the stream from the Cemetery.

My family is from the Lavaca, Charleston, Bloomer area. I'm kin to the Bulls, Cooks, Berrys, Jettons, Bonners, Kaylors, and many other families.

I made the link and transfer to you. I was maintaining this memorial for Linda Creamer Furr. She passed it over to me about 2 weeks ago. Linda is in poor health and I see she had left you a message about your family information on your Find A Grave site. If you get a chance you might drop her a line & thanks. I see you share some of the cemeteries from my wife's family. She has people in the Peters Cemetery and her families were from around Mountainburg. If I can be of any other help, let me know.
