|Howard James||Lanie Ann Colson|
Hello. I dabble with genealogy now and then. I noticed a spelling variation on Lanie Ann Colston as Lanie Ann Colson and I tripped over the picture of John C. Matthews you have posted on Find A Grave. Anyways...John C. Matthews (Could the 'C' stand for Crawford?)was the husband of my great grand aunt Lanie. Who cares, I know, right? Well, I have an old photo that I have spent some effort in identifying Julia Ann Colston with all her surviving grandchildren including Stella Matthews, John Grady Matthews and John Alvin Matthews (right prior to the poor baby's death). I thought you might be interested in a digital copy. I'm descended from Elizabeth Catherine Colston who married Ambrose Simeon Ramsey; one of their kids, Birdie Mutell Ramsey was my grandmother. Drop me a line cousin! Thanks. -Howard

Happy to do it.
I've had people take photo's for me and I appreacate them doing so.
|Wendy McIntosh||Vernon Ritter|
Yes, he was a very handsome and sharp looking man. Such a tragedy at his loss. I always try to put up photos when I come across them, but to tell you the truth, I have no idea where I got this one! Anyway, I am glad you have finally gotten a good photo of Vernon, small as it is!

You are welcome for the photo. The markers in the niches are very difficult to read and photograph. I have tried different angles and times of day and always get the same results. Sorry it is not very clear.
You wrote a very nice memorial for him, must have been a great dad.
I, also, like the quote by John Wooten, says a lot about people.

You are most welcome.
|Pam||James Thomas Patton|
I have a question. The portrait of James Thomas Patton that you posted on "Find A Grave" says "1764-1837", but he died in 1827. Is that 1837 just a mistake or what is the reason for that? Just trying to sort it out. Thanks for posting it.

Hi! This is Charla Payne Marts
I am a great-grandaughter of Lou Ella Wilson; My grandmother was Mary Rebecca Peacock who married a Mr. Smith; he died young and then she married my grandfather Charles Brockton Payne Sr.
my dad was also Charles Brockton Payne.
I was very close even though I was small to Mary; MAMAW; she and my parents died when I was seven years old.
I cling to the thoughts of my ancestors for hope and further knowledge. Please let me have a copy of this photo...
or any others of The Peacocks... I look like my father and Mary and somewhat like Lou Ellen; but Im blonde like my dad!
How are you related to me? I would love to talk with you some time
Charla Payne Marts/ firstname.lastname@example.org
Oh, wow! you're related? But on Ona's side, right? Yes, Barbara if you have any of the old pictures of the Thorntons (Julian Thornton or others), I would love to get copies. Julian Thornton was the son of Mary Jane Royston and William Henry Thornton of Fayette, TN. Mary Jane Royston was one of my ancestors.
I also have a copy of the Thornton family tree. I am the only one who has traced it so far (that branch of the Thorntons). Also I have transcripts of old letters the Thorntons wrote in the 1850s
