Genealogy is a passion of mine from when I was very young. My grandmother told me wonderful stories about our families and I have been doing family history for over 30 years. I have traveled all over the world photographing family graves and writing books on my different families. I need another 25 years to finish everything I have started!|
Names I research:
Webb (Tennessee); Mickel (New Jersey & Illinois); Cartwright; White (New Jersey) Doubleday;Coode;
Pendleton; Reeves/Reaves; Witsell/Witzel (North Carolina); Schoonover; Wells; Lyons (Ireland & California)
Stopher; de Fremery Netherlands & California); Nederburg; Gaines; Steele; Herckenrath; de Magnan (Charleston, SC, Cuba & France); Suermondt (Netherlands & California); Parr (California); Keeley; (Ireland & Nevada)
Douglass; Henley; Bennett; Flowers; Slye; Dr. Thomas Gerrard & Susannah Gerrard (Maryland & Virginia); Reuben William Smith (Mo., Tx, CA.) Larios; Escobar

Also if you don't mind, would you also add this as an inscription.
"Erected by his devoted family in memory of a Christian father and brother."

I don't think we have another 25 years, Karen, but if we did and I were not housebound allergic to everything, picture taking of Slaughter tombstones in St.Joe's/Bardstown City Cemetery ourselves appears to be the only way we are ever going to see any that still exist. Or find where Capt. Philip Slaughter's first wife is actually buried in Virginia, and When? Before 1803 is all I know, for sure. It's ironic that the Rev. Slaughter, Patron Saint of Genealogists, has his own parentage in left in question, in all this mess. I think I need your # 74031109 deleted now (I've made note of the bio just now & I have the folks in my gedcom if we can find the graves (they'd be in Va); and if you would please Karen, that really scary reproduction of the old Capt.'s portrait on # 50587706. Kay's picture of the original is plenty good enough.

His name was Gion Roy Dunbar. He came over from Scotland. I heard from a family member that he came as a very young boy and from another relative that he came as a grown man. I know he died in Texas; I don't know when. I have a relative in Texas now that is named after him. I contacted him and he didn't knw anything about my Great GF. except that he was my grandmother's father. I subscribed to the World Wide Part of Ancestry.com for a couple of years hoping to find something, but had no luck. I haven't done anything with ancestry.com for 2 or 3 years. One day I'll get back to it.

Karen, you're welcome. I feel the same way you do about adding as much relevant information as possible. I wish someone had done it somewhere along the line for my great grandfather, whose life is still a mystery to the family except for his name.

WOW! What a great way to start my week.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for the transfer of William Hogg to our care. We appreciate the time you took to make his memorial and photograph his cemetery stone. It was fantastic to be able to link him to his family.
Find A Grave is a wonderful site but only because of people like you.
