We are currently working to identify anyone buried in Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery Omaha NE that has served in the military. If you have a loved one buried there or know of someone, please send us a message. We place flags on the graves for Memorial Day. This project is sponsored by Centennial Masonic Lodge.
If you can send us the names, we will be sure to include them on our list to get a flag.
Thank you for the help with this ongoing project.

jane Brown, wife of Matthew was born 7 Jan 1821 in Belmont co OH to John Brown and Jane Hurly. They had moved from Greene Co PA c 1816. Jane's father John Brown Sr died c 1828/30 in Vermilion co IL when thrown from a "vicious" stallion. John jr lived in Stephenson co Il as did sisters Sarah Brown Hathaway and Eleanor Brown Mallory. However, they moved from Stephenson Co about 1870 to Montevallo Vernon co MO. You will find them buried in maple Grove Cem in Cedar co Mo.
The Henthornes were early in Belmont co. elizabeth Henthorne sold property in Monroe co OH to Jasper Mallory, father of Dewitt Clinton Mallory who married Eleanor Brown. (13 Oct 1832)
Jane Hurley, mother of jane Brown Henthorne, died at Jane's home in Stephenson co Il in 1849.
The two postings for Jane Brown Henthorne and Jane S Henthorne are one and the same person. jane's middle intial was S (probably Sarah like her sister who married Thomas Hathway). I have jane's death cert and that of nan Stewart her daughter.
"In 1798 or 1799, James Henthorn settled at the mouth of Sunfish Creek after moving there from the old fort on Wheeling Creek. His children were as follows: James; John; Henry; William; Adam; Ann; and Mary. He made improvements where Clarington now is located. At the same time, Charles Atkinson cleared 15 acres which later was known as the W.H. Mallory farm. In 1802, Alexander Newlen cleared 10 acres on the Joel Yost farm. Other settlers includes Elijah Johnson; James Scott; Robert Baldwin; James Walton; and Jonathan Rutter. William Powell settled at the mouth of Sunfish Creek and kept the ferry. The following persons settled along the valley of the creek in the order given: John Vandevanter; Peter Vandevanter; Andrew McKee; William McCoy; Joseph Blare; Matthew Brown; Richard Cain; and Samuel Buskirk. David Howell, Reuben Redman, and Reuben Sturgeon lived on the hills near the mouth of the Creek. Other large settlements were made by the Bowen family; the Roby family; the Twible family; the Preble family; the Gillmore family; the Davis family; the Ross family; the Watson family; the Jones family; and the Kyger family. These settlements furnished settlers for many other parts of the County -- especially further up the creek and on Will's Creek.
The first school was taught in a cabin on the farm of Charles Atkinson in 1804 or 1805 by his brother, Mitchell Atkinson. Soon after that time, he moved to Seneca Township and taught the first school there."
The W H Mallory (William Hubbard) mentioned above is the youngest brother of Dewitt Clinton mallory who married Jane Brown's sister Eleanor.
William Mallory had married a decendant of jane Brown's great uncle, matthew Brown.
