Bio Photo Recent trip to Hunter Cemetery, Maury Co. Mt. Pleasant, Tn. Two large trees have fallen and one missed the McGee memorial by about 2ft. Another tree fell and has destroyed the ts of Richard Stockard and about 6 others around it.
Wayne Austin and I are trying to get volunteers to go there and moved the trees and repair the stones that are damaged/destroyed. Any suggestion on how to resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated. A photo on the memorial of Richard Stockard will show part of the damage.

Born and raised in Lewis and Maury County, Tennessee. Member of the National Society of Children of the American Revolutionary War.

Maury Co., Tn has many historical cemeteries. Many Rev. War soldiers are buried in Maury Co./Lewis Co. Tn., also many Civil War Generals, War of 1812, and their soldiers.

Cemetery preservation is very important to me and I try to list from actual cemetery visits and various book listings. I have been working with Wayne Austin for the last 10 years as a volunteer contributor for his project.
Please, e-mail me with any corrections or additional information that needs to be posted at any Maury County Cemetery where you see my name via the edit option on the memorial.

If I have posted a close relative of yours let me know and I will transfer. Please use the edit option on the memorial for updates, corrections and questions, my responce will be much faster, I don't have to look up the memorial by name that way.

RE: William A. Kilpatrick Jr.
The dates are right for William A. Kilpatrick, Jr. and it states that Betty McClain was his sister, so I think the obituary is where it belongs.

RE: Cicero Neal Riddle
I'm a first cousin twice removed, Mary Bob. Cicero and I are related through the McCracken family in Lawrence county. I am just now working Cicero more fully into my family tree.

I don't know Bob. Is he a son of Cicero and Annie Hartsfield or Cicero and Ruthie Caperton?

Thanks for getting in touch!

LOL!! I don't have a scanner either!! I will take mine over to a friend's house and get them to scan it to me. If you find yours, please send it to me at

My picture is of the big Hight family with brothers and sisters and lots of children and babies. It's one of those old, old photos that they used to take out on the lawn.

If you come up with any other photos, I would LOVE to see them!!

Thank you so much!!

Morris Town/Morristown Cemeteries (Giles County)
I found a death record for a Bob Buford ("colored") that states he is buried in Morristown cemetery. Do you know if either one of these two cemeteries has African-American graves or is there a third Morristown "Colored" Cemetery? Thanks.

RE: Harriet S. Craig
I am not sure. She may have had a headstone at Rose Hill at one time or another, but I could not locate one. I also checked the Fred Hawkins - Maury County Cemetery Index dated 1989, and she was not listed in Rose Hill by him.
Here is the website that I checked.

Could not find where I got the information on which cemetery so I have transferred the memorial to you in hopes that you may solve the what appears to be a problem. Wish I could help you find the solution but living in North Carolina presents a problem i.e. distance. Hope you don't mind me transferring his memorial.
Thanks Jesse

RE: Harriet Craig
I have posted every headstone that I could photograph in Rose Hill. There were some that was weathered to the point of being illegible. If she is buried here, I could not find a headstone for her.
