Bio and Links
Bio Photo I started working on my Family Tree when I was just ten years old. My mother's sister got me started, I think today she would be arrested for child endangerment. I was the only 10 year old in my neighborhood with a five drawer government issued gray filing cabinet filled with files of birth, marriage and death certificates, census reports and Civil War pension files. By high school I was skipping school to take the Metro bus into downtown Washington, DC to go to the National Archives to spend the day in a room filled with big gray manually operated microfilm machines scanning census reports one page at a time looking for my ancestors. We're talking the mid 70s, before indexes, computers, Family Tree Maker or Ancestry.com.

I split my time between my homes in Los Angeles, California and Deposit, New York so I can do my historical and genealogical research.

I am very thankful for Find A Grave, all your entries have helped me greatly. I research not only my line but all the siblings of my line. As a British lady friend of mine so aptly put it, "your not doing your family tree darling, your doing the whole bloody forest!"

When I create a memorial, I research the individual and write a biography for them. Even when I am "doing the whole bloody cemetery!"

If I have made any errors in their history or have any typographical error, please let me know and I will gladly correct them. I am sure I have OCD and mistakes really bother me.

"The man who feels no sentiment for the memory of his forefathers, who has no regard for his ancestors, or his kindred, is himself unworthy of kindred regard or remembrance." ... DANIEL WEBSTER

RE: Pvt Charles W. Weaver
It was my pleasure. I had another request to go out to Poplar Grove and took both at the same time. I enjoy going out there, it is a beautiful setting and very awe inspiring every time I go. Best wishes, Peggy

Abigail Jenkins
memorial #45347312
Wow - What an undertaking you have with so many profiles!
The info you have on Abigail Jenkins doesn't quite line up with the info I have. Specifically, I'm looking for my GGGM Phoebe Jenkins Sanford's parents John & Abby Kelly Jenkins. We believe these are her parents but she is not listed.
Can you shed any light on your sources?
Thanks so much!

Hannah Meeker Alexander Memorial# 42749365
Additional information about Hannah Meeker Alexander: Hannah's birth date is correct (listed in her father Robert Meeker's pension application), but she was not born in Monroe Co. She was born and baptized in Columbia Co., New York. In fact, there is no indication that Robert Meeker ever lived in any of the predecessor counties to Monroe Co.(formed 1821).

Robert Meeker, married Catherine VanDusen on 26 Mar 1787 in Columbia Co., New York. They were on the 1790 census in Columbia Co. living next door to Robert's father, Robert Meeker Sr.:

1790 > NEW YORK > COLUMBIA > HILLSDALE Series: M637 Roll: 6 Page: 233
Robert Meeker 2 1 2
Robert Meeker Jr. 1 1 3

Robert Meeker Jr. and Catherine had two daughters baptized in Columbia Co., Mary and Hannah:

Baptism Records for Nobletown & Hillsdale in Columbia Co., New York, 1770-1793:

Father) Meeker jr, Robert (Mother) Christene [sic, mistrtanscribed] (Child) Mary 7/18/1789 Nobletown

(Father) Meeker jr, Robert (Mother) Catherine (Child) Hannah 2/11/1793 Hillsdale

The baptismal records come from "Remarkable Records of Rev. Gideon Bostwick, 1770-1793,Great Barrington, Massachusetts," transcribed by Arthur C. M. Kelly, Kinship, Rhinebeck, NY (pub. 1988)and are online at

Robert Meeker submitted a 30 August 1832 affidavit as part of his Revolutionary War pension application. (Series: M805 Roll: 579 File: W4027) In the affidavit he stated that "at the close of the War he lived in Columbia Co., NY then removed about the year 1802 to Windsor, Broome Co., and remained there until 1808 when he moved to Lackawana, Penna, then in 1814 to Chenengo, Broome, where he now resides."

Thank you for such a thoughtful, caring memorial to my 2nd great grandfather. It sounds as if you knew him! The info you put in it is quite accurate to what I know about him....only you knew more! I will certainly have to check out more of your work on other VV family members. Thanks again for a job well done.

RE: INFANT KNAPP SONS
Thanks, John; working on Lucius' parents now. Because I didn't do the records to begin with, the captions are the only way that I could think of "connecting" the family members.

RE: CARSON/HAMM FAMILY IN WALTON CEMETERY
Hi John, Glad I could pass forward the joy that I've had by find-a-gravers taking photos of my people buried near them. We are in Walton until Sunday, and hopefully I can catch the office lady (she has irregular hours), to help me find Minnie in the records between now and then. Alison (and Mom (Margie) too, it's been a joint venture. :-)

Hello, I am so sorry...I think I had you connect this lady to her grandparents; instead of her parents.
Please link her to her father & mom at these numbers:
Phineas Case: 69498610
Ann or Nancy Ann Leonard: 69498608

Thank you. Please transfer if not related.
