Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a film director and screen writer. Born in Los Angeles and raised in Hollywood, but lived most of my life in San Francisco.

I will always remember my ancestors, family, and those who influenced my work in film... but especially my dear friends. They live on in my spirit and I want to make sure they will never be forgotten or their lives taken for granted!

I am a proud direct descendant of William Sprague who came to America in 1629 aboard the ship "Lyon's Whelp". Three of my ancestors were Revolutionary War heroes and one was a close friend of President George Washington. Another direct ancestor fought in the Civil War and was wounded in the battle at Stone's River in Tennessee. Further back I am directly descended from King Louis VII, Henry I, II and III and Saint Margaret among others. These people led extraordinary lives and inspire me.

I am honored to have written the biographies for the following famous people here on findagrave...

Tyrone Power
Irene Dunne
Janet Gaynor
Erich Von Stroheim
Helmut Newton
David Brian
Charles Ives
Ernest Tidyman
Eugen Sandow
Martinus Sieveking
Samuel H. Kress
Bronislaw Kaper
Albert Frey
Fontella Bass
Clifton A. Sprague
Governor Frederick W. M. Holliday

An absolutely lovely tribute to someone who must have been so dear to you - I have no doubt she would have been so pleased by your words!

Thank you for such a lovely bio for Casey. He was my hero when we were in fourth grade. he was a dedicated pen pal to me as well. We lost touch when I married and I have been searching for him. My heart sunk when I found him here. Thank you again for being so thoughtful and the kind words for the boy who taught me to swim.

RE: Catherine
Christian,
I would love to have you write a bio to include on the memorial. I have searched all over the internet for information, but sadly, all the reports concentrate on her murderer. I have not been able to find an obituary notice for her at all.
Please feel free to email it to me after you are finished. My email address is: hafford1@comcast.net.
Sincerely,
Gwen

RE: Roy Larson Raymond
Greetings,

Thank you for letting me know that you added Mr. Raymond's photo to his memorial page. While I wasn't the contributor who added him to findagrave, I did write the bio that his currently on his memorial and I agree with you that he should be listed as famous. Unfortunately when I submited the bio to administration, they decided that he was not.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the virtual cemetery I put together of San Francisco mayors. With all the confusion surrounding the history of cemeteries in the city, it has been one of my main goals to locate the final resting places of all of the city's mayors. I still have a few that are unaccounted for but with any luck, I hope that I can evenutally track them all down.

Best wishes,
Gerald :)

RE: Pacific Crest Cemetary Photo
"feeling silly in Arizona" ... Hi Christian, thanks for the info on your beautiful photo. My mother and son are at this Cemetery. You are right, it is a beautiful spot. Much of my growing up years were spent within walking distance of Pacific Crest. As nutty as it sounds; mother, sister and I walked there and had a little picnic on the lawn. We were small children but still the memory makes us laugh. Thank you for being so gracious about my error. Loved reading your bio...what an interesting person and life. Many blessings upon you, Marsha

Wow. Vesta has taken a love of the color pink to a whole higher level, probably wearing pink in Heaven. Thanks for your letter. Again, your Memorial is quite memorable.
