Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have always been fascinated by genealogy and family history.

I was born in Georgia, grew up in New Jersey, went to college in Virginia, and have now lived in Kansas, for more than 43 years.

My only son, Robbie, died in March 2000 at the age of 16, and I have listed him on Find A Grave. You can visit him at Robert Hampton Smith.

I also have a memorial site for Robbie at

There is a new page for Robbie's September birthday at Stardust Memories.

My time online has become more limited, and I will no longer be able to make daily visits to all of your sweet angels. However, I do plan to make monthly virtual cemeteries so that I can continue to flower your angels on their birthdays and angel days.

THANK YOU to all of you for your many kind visits and messages. I so very much appreciate our wonderful family here at Find-a-Grave!

Abraham Staab
I've made the addition to his entry regarding his Jewish faith. I didn't see that mentioned, as you stated, on his wife's entry that you did, but did make the addition. I'm sure the people adding Christian sympathy notes to his entry did not mean any disrespect, and I really doubt that Abraham would hold that against them.

You're certainly welcome. I was hoping the inscription for James would be complete, but no luck (yet). I'll keep an eye on it.

I love your memorial for him (146743114)

But there is already one for him in a cemetery, and these need to be merged; see 7699448

Please check on this. If you have trouble, Find A Grave can do it for you.

Susanna May/Mayo McAfee
Dear Saralyn,
Thank you for all your work. Find-A-Grave is a wonderful help to all of us doing genealogy.
With regard to Susanna May/Mayo McAfee. She was born in Pitt County NC. [Pitt was formed from Beaufort County in 1761] Her father was James May/Mayo and her mother's Christian and maiden names are unknown to me. Her father's land was divided on the 3rd day of October 1819. Pitt County Deed Book GG Page 322. This deed names Susanna and her brothers: Adams, John, Howell, Drury [Drew], and Hardy. Howell died sometime after October 1819 and 1824. His portion [32 acres]of James' land was subsequently divided between his surviving siblings; each getting about 6.4 acres. The Commissioners who divided the land were: Summer Adams, Howell Hearn, Kinchen Cobb, Allen Atkinson and Alpheus Stokes. James May/Mayos land was near the area of Pitt County known as "Penny Hill" on NC Hwy #33 very near the Pitt and Edgecombe County line on Tar River and Cheeks Mill Creek. Susanna and her husband Arthur McAfee and her brother Drury [Drew] moved to Washington County Georgia, probably sometime around 1825. Although James May/Mayo was the son of a John Mayo, it is important to note that there were many men named John May/Mayo in Pitt County during the Colonial Period. Also there was a Courthouse fire in 1858 and most if not all of the Pitt County Wills and Estates were destroyed. From extant land records James May/Mayo was the son of John Mayo II who was the son of John Mayo I who the son of William Mayo who made his will in Beaufort County in 1759.
I hope this information will be of some help and interest to May/Mayo and McAfee researchers.

Hi dear friend
Dear Saralyn thank you for adding my Jim to your June Birthday and Angel Day. I have to go into your virtual cemeteries to find June, but I have been leaving flowers. Hope you are doing well.
