|Starlight Creek Angling Society||RE: Harry M latest|
Thanks again for updating Harry Middleton Jr's memorial. The old chevy truck photo of Harry's sounds pretty cool. His fictional grandfather Emerson drove an old Ford truck. I would love to see photos of Harry's fly rods especially ones that he may have inherited from his grandfather or ones that he purchased from his good friend George Maurer, who was a master bamboo fly rod maker.
I took an interest in Harry's genealogy to see how much of his books that I read about 10 years ago were true. I was very pleased to learn that a new book "Sweet Country" was available and I am reading that now.
|Starlight Creek Angling Society||RE: Harry obit suggestion|
Thank you for posting Harry F. Middleton Jr's obit. He certainly was a gifted author and fly fisherman to boot.
Please consider updating his memorial with the edits I have sent you for his birth location of Germany. I have a passenger list of his mother Donna F. sister Donna E and Harry F. traveling back to the US from an overseas military assignment. He is very young and the list states he was born in Germany. He died obviously in or around Birmingham, Al.
Also I have sent you his parents Findagrave memorial links. Harry F. Sr. and Donna F. (Jones) Middleton. They are both cremated and are buried in Arlington National cemetery, VA. Donna F. Middleton's parents are linked from her memorial. They were Travis D. Jones and Stella L. McClain. Harry named his one son after them, Travis McClain Middleton. Harry's grandfather Travis Dwight Jones is the real Emerson Newell who is the grandfather in the "Earth is Enough". Uncle Albert "Salmo" McClain is a nod to Harry's grandmother Stella's maiden name.
Travis D. Jones must have been the one that instilled the love of fishing and the outdoors in Harry. Here is a link to a photo of Travis' grave.
