Joseph/Ella Sixbey
Your additions and links have been made; such a tragic story to add to this family, who had already suffered so much loss. Is Ella the daughter of Sally Vanderwerker Sixbey? If so, I'll link her.

Charles C. Sixbey
Hello!

I just took a photo of Charles Sixbey's grave and I noticed that he was buried next to his two wives and I was wondering if they have been added in to Find a Grave? If they are not maybe you or me could add them in and I can add the photos of their graves.

Have a great day!

No, I can neither confirm nor deny that Isaac Mason II (1698-1732) is buried in the Mason-Horton Cemetery in Swansea, MA. I have no information on his burial place.

RE: Samantha Towslee
I haven't seen any good source for Betsy's birthdate, but I can give you some clues. You had 1798 from Don Barber's book, but that is clearly wrong. As you said, she had a daughter in 1810. Leah and Joseph had twins in 1798; that was enough children for that year! Also, Solomon was born 1783, so we can assume she is somewhere near his age.

Betsy was named Betsy because her father's first wife was Betsy Anderson. This does not mean she was a child of the first marriage, as those children were born in the 1760s. Joseph and Betsy probably lived in Bennington; I do not know when Betsy died, or what happened to her. She was from a Tory family, and the answers to this question may be with their descendants, many of whom could still be in Canada.
It appears Joseph and Leah were in Pownal by 1776. It was not uncommon to honor the late wife by a daughter of the second marriage, and that is what assume is the case here. So, the earliest she could be born is about 1776. As you probably know, the list of children for Leah and Joseph is incomplete, and it is probably the girls' names that are lost. It may be that there is documentation to be found in Scipio NY.
One more thought: you know who Amy Elizabeth is named for, don't you? Her two grandmothers, Amy Kimball Babcock and Betsy Barber Towslee.

Samantha Towslee
Hello cousin Cheryl, we've emailed before. I also descend more than one way from Joseph Barber, as many people with Pownal VT ancestry can say. We have the same photo of Amy E in our photo album, but I dont think I ever saw a picture of Samantha before. Samantha was my grandmother's great aunt, and it is my gm who kept these stories alive so I could share them with you. I found Solomon in the census in Scipio in 1810, next to his brother in law, Elijah Congdon. He came back to Pownal with the baby after Betsy died. Many stories about her still in my family's memory. Did you know Samantha and Henry also had a son named Solomon, who only lived 3 years? Do you know about all the middle names for Caroline and Selina? This was like a tongue twister that my grandmother would recite. Will share more if you are interested. Very interested in Henry, too. Carolyn Adams
