My name is Joni, I grew up in DeSoto, Missouri, but am now located in rural Washington County, Missouri. My husband, Gene, and I began our genealogy adventure around 1987 and have enjoyed its pursuit tremendously. I lost my husband in 2008, at the far-too-young age of 55. My health is not good but as it allows, I still enjoy pursuing our family histories and visiting area cemeteries. |
FAG is a wonderful site. I've found that most everyone I have encountered is involved because of their mutual enjoyment of the pursuit of genealogy and history. I personally believe this site can be a wonderful tool and I am very grateful for the links I have discovered to my ancestors via FAG.
Please don't hesitate to send any additions/corrections for any of the memorials I have listed via the edit button on the memorial. By going thru the memorial edit option, your information is much more likely to reach me and not be overlooked.
Please remember when contacting any contributor that we are all human and capable of making mistakes, our information comes from various sources (tombstones, obits, personal knowledge, etc.) which can contain errors, and we are relying on technology which is far from perfect. Rude or condesending messages are not necessary (or appreciated!). You will catch more flies with honey than vinegar. You will also get your changes made more quickly if you send the information in a thorough and concise manner (re: include memorial numbers or your contriubtor number if needed, etc).
Thank you to all the contributors to FAG for all the hard work and efforts you put out on behalf of strangers you will likely never meet. Your kindness and hard work is appreciated.
Lately it seems I have had a number of memorials that I have sent additional information to and rather than add the information, they have chosen to delete the memorial. I'm sure I am not the only one who would gladly assume maintenance of any memorials that you no longer wish to be bothered with rather than have them deleted. Please consider transfer of any memorial prior to deletion.
I have not intentionally added any memorials for living people, however in doing some cemetery transcribing, some of these memorials do exist having been created from headstones in the particular cemetery. I am attempting to get back around to these and confirm whether these are possibly a living person. Because I am using multiple sources in this endeavor, including revisiting the cemeteries, it takes a great deal of time and my health the last few years has not been cooperative. If you encounter a memorial that is indeed for a living person and the person desires it to be removed, please let me know and it will be done. I have no interest in creating "fake memorials just to pad my contributor numbers", and I do appreciate any light that can be shed upon the memorials that I do have. I will also gladly transfer any memorials to people having a relationship with the person.
Good luck in your search for your kin folks and thanks again to all who have contributed to the success of this site!

Thank you for making the memorial. I just visited with Mark's father exactly a week ago today. He was appreciate of what you did in making the memorial and also transferring it to me. Too bad that on that Tue. I drove right by Cal. Meth. and if I would have known I would have stopped and took a pic. of the gravestone. Unfortunately I live at least 2 1/2 hrs. away and do not get that way very often .. but next time. All the best and God Bless, jim .. p.s. usually the only time I go down there is to a funeral at DeClues in Potosi .. said to say.

Thank you for making the original memorial. I really thank you for transferring it to me. I live about 100 miles from Belgrade / Caledonia and do not get there very often. Interesting enough, last Tue. I drove down to see Lindell Akers Mark's fathers and talked with him for about 5 hours. If I knew this was going to happen I would have stopped at Cal. Meth. and took a photo. I came over 32 from Park Hills to Caledonia right by there on my was to C to Belgrade. Next time I will stop.

Joni, I am doing research on the Harmons that came from West Virginia. My husband's great great grandmother was Rachel Harman Eye. I found out that there is a cemetery at Floyd, MO. You have put pictures of Effie and Solomon on their Find A Grave pages. Have you been to the cemetery? Could you tell me how to get there? Thanks in advance for your help. A few years ago I got the obituary of Russell Dean Best Feb. 14, 1936-Oct. 6, 2008...you have him buried at Brookside cemetery in Madison County, IN....My obituary says that he was going to be buried at Gardens of Memory in Muncie.
I wonder if the family made a last minute change and my obituary is incorrect...what do you think?

They came to Pennsylvania in the Late 1700s to the early 1800s and landed in northern Berks, Pa. in Hamburg, Berks, Pa. witch Hamburg was once named Karchertown, then renamed to Hamburg, after the town in Germany where they came from.
Im doing Work on the Kercher family b/c My mom's step-dad was Paul W. Kercher. he was a very good man to my mom rasded her like his own child. we used to talk to him up till his death in 1999.
my mom always called him dad b/c of how he was to her and we always called him grand pop. my mom never know her real dad. and we will never know b/c she was never told and there is no info on him. So Paul was her dad in are eyes.

|Nichole Shelton Adams Rowland||James Harold Roberson|
I see a minor problem on #82874097 for James Harold Roberson in Union Grove Cemetery, Pleasant Plains, Indepencence, AR. He is linked to his grandparents, not his parents. His mother is #79778751 Edith Mae Turner Roberson. I haven't found a memorial for his father Franklin James Roberson yet.
I'm distantly related to the Roberson's. James Harold Roberson would be my 3rd cousin twice removed.
