Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a proud descendant of the noted Ward family of the Cherokee Nation through John and Katy McDaniel Ward and their son Charles Jackson and his wife Mary Elvira Henslee Ward. Charles Jackson emigrated along with brothers, Bryant, George and Samuel, sister Susie to the Cherokee Nation West in 1834, along with his two other wives and families from information contained in Lt. Harris Journal. Susie who married William England buried at Cadron Creek Settlement near Mennifee, Arkansas dying there of illness on their trip westward. At some latter time Charles and Mary Elvira returned back East. My g-grandfather Charles Rufus ward was born about 1840 at Murphy, Cherokee County, N. Carolina. He enlisted in the 5th Tenn. Mtd Infantry USA in Bradley County, Tennessee. Upon discharge he moved to Maury County, Tennessee and married 1st Catherine Ray and 2nd Margaret Elizabeth James. Charles Rufus lived in Flint District, Cherokee Indian Territory from about 1871 to 1880. He moved back to Maury County and later into Hardin County Tennessee where my grandfather Rufas Cecil Ward was born and had a son named Jamie Ross Ward who is my father. Several Ward descendants and related families have begun a website on Facebook. There are many descendants who are here also. We have many photos, newpaper articles, obits, census, pictures and historcial documents here relating to the John and Katy McDaniel Ward family.

William England #82715605
Hello Larry...

You posted a flower on my memorial for William England, #5372801 last year. I am writing to ask if you would move it to William's memorial that is located at memorial #82715605. This memorial was actually the first memorial and mine was done some years later. Recently, the original owner of the first memorial has decided to let me have ownership/management of it since my wife is an England (actually her mother). So I am trying to combine the two memorials into just one and since her's was first, that one will be the one to keep. I will remove mine once everything is transferred. Your flower and message is significant and I would hate to loose it.

Somehow related to Starrs and Hollands
Mr. Ward--My name is Denise. I have been looking for my grandmother's bio parents for years. By DNA, I know I am related to the Holland family, and I believe I'm related to the family of Buck Starr. My grandmother was born in 1883; she remembers "leaving Oklahoma" as a young child. She was taken in by a family named Coffman in Kansas (incidentally they have Starr relatives also) and any census I have found on her states she was born in Missouri or Arkansas. She was told she was part Cherokee, and at some point she was told one of her biological parents surname was Scysom (Sissom, Scism, Sisson, et al). I know this is not much to go on, but if you even think you could point me in a direction, please do. DeeDee

Mary Elvira Ward Holland
I am descended from Elizabeth Ann Holland whose son John Wesley Holland married your Mary Elvira Ward , do you have any information you would share regarding their life in Oklahoma...John Wesley's niece, Mary Louise Dunn Chambers,(my Great Grandmother) went to Oklahoma to file a claim but the claims office was closed when she got there, she & her family lived there for 5 years in Stillwell and Salisaw...can you help me with obtaining information regarding their stay in Oklahoma, I would not know where to start. My family has always been told that we were part Cherokee, but I have not been able to prove that, I don't know how my Great Grandmother would have proved it to the claims office, your help would be greatly appreciated

Memorial# 5171124 Alexander Hamilton Balentine Jr
Thank you for the wonderful photo of the advertisement for Hamilton's Grocery/Dry Goods store, and for the source to see more! I knew he had a store, from some documents on my Tree for him, but I had never seen the newspaper ads! He was Legally Blind and learned to count change by the "feel" of the coins and even the paper money! His Father, the Reverend Alexander Hamilton Balentine Sr, sent him to a school for the Blind in the East, (we have about a dozen hand-written letters from the Reverend) and he learned to make brooms and mattresses. He really took that training much farther! I'm proud to be related to him! Janet in Dallas, TX

Thank you so much for posting the obit for Laura
Reasoner (Martin). She was my GG Grandmother, I was told she died after child birth and the clipping just confirmed it, I hope you do not mind if I attach it to my tree. I wanted to ask first, of course.
